Come experience S’lichot Schvitz tonight WiSpa USA S’lichot, the rabbis teach, is a “spiritual alarm clock.” The concept of “Hirhur T’shuvah” or “Awakening to T’shuvah” demands a moral awakening of our souls, as we ask:- What kind of human am I? What contribution to the wreckage around me do I own? With Open Temple, we meet at Wi Spa and engage in an immersive experience of hot plunge, cold plunge, meditation, chanting, Soul Journaling and more all complete with a visit to the Bimmidipop for a shared community meal and reflection with learning led by Rabbi Lori.

Our High Holiday theme this year is Magnificent Humans.

Annette Shapiro, z”l, died on Friday, August 21, at 96. She gave sixty years to this community as a volunteer, a mentor, a fundraiser, the first woman to chair the Jewish Community Foundation of Los Angeles.

She was Joel’s mother. She was the kind of person who remembered your name and then remembered your kid’s name.

High Holiday Ritual Lab 5787 is dedicated in her memory, and it is four gatherings across ten days in Venice:

S’lichot Schvitz — Sat Sept 5, 8pm, Wi Spa
Erev Rosh + 9/11 Community Mandala — Fri Sept 11, from 3pm, Venice Beach
Rosh HaShanah Day & Tashlich — Sat Sept 12, 10am, Venice
Riptide Kol Nidre — Sun Sept 20, 6pm, Venice Beach

We bury. We begin again. We do both in the same ten days, because that is what these days are for.
