VENICE, FL The 14th Annual Bible Readathon will be held in downtown Venice beginning the evening of Tuesday, April 11th, 2023, and running 24 hours a day through approximately midday on Saturday, April 15th, 2023.

The Opening Ceremony will begin at 7:00 p.m. at the Gazebo in Centennial Park in downtown Venice. It will feature special entertainment and messages in celebration of the 14th Anniversary.

To close the Opening Ceremony and begin the Readathon, Venice Mayor Nick Pacheto will be the first reader, beginning in Genesis. Following the Mayor, a number of ministers from local churches will take a turn reading, followed by volunteers.

Local Venice area residents as well as visitors are welcome to enjoy the thrill of reading the Bible aloud in downtown Venice. Each reader will read for 15 minutes at a time convenient for them, and signing up is easy. Simply go to our website, www.venice.bible readathon.org, click on “sign up to read” and sign up for a 15 minute time slot that fits your schedule.

The first Bible Readathon held in Venice was modeled after one being held annually in
Stuart, FL. A Venice resident, Karla Roy, heard about it and convinced two of her friends, Kathy Bolam and Susan Nartowicz, to go with her to Stuart and learn how it’s done. They brought the idea back to Venice and began to plan the first Bible Readathon. It was held at Patriots Park in May of 2009 and a few years later moved to the more convenient and more visible Gazebo in Centennial Park in downtown Venice.
