I remember the day I walked across the Edmund Pettus Bridge in Selma holding John Lewis’s hand. Barack, my mom, our girls, and so many remarkable civil rights heroes were right by our side—and we could feel the electricity in the air.

Of course, this was not the first time that Congressman Lewis had crossed that bridge. He had crossed 50 years before fighting for the right to vote—knowing the dangers he would face when he made it to the other side, but understanding that the work was bigger than him. He helped change history that day, and we are all so much better off because of it.

The best way we can honor Congressman Lewis’ legacy is by continuing his fight. That’s why I hope you’ll take the time to learn more about When We All Vote, an organization I founded that is working to make sure that no voice goes unheard. From registering people to vote, fighting voter suppression laws, and educating people about their rights, When We All Vote is working tirelessly to pick up Congressman Lewis’ torch. On Dr. MLK birthday 2022 I and First Lady Dixon tested positive for the Covid 19.
We have been vaccinated with the Pfizer vaccine and the booster and yet we tested positive even though we wore masks and social distanced ourselves.
So many have Died from this deadly virus, I am so thankful and humbled that our God has allowed us both to live through Covid 19 and the Glory, The Honor and the Praise belong to The Most High.
What a wonderful Savior.
