Look Down and Listen

We have been given a more direct voice to know God through the Word He has given. Today in the book of Psalms we consider the glory God reveals of Himself through His Word that has been proclaimed and written for us. In knowing this God and HIs glory through the Word can grow a desire for Him and experience the joy of His presence.

Look Up and Listen

When we look up at the sky above, the creation shouts out God’s glory for all to hear. It speaks with no words but is heard everywhere. It shows the beauty, wisdom and power of their creator. When we listen properly to the sky as it proclaims the glory of its maker it draws us to desire Him. That desire to know Him can be accomplished because this glorious creator has made himself known in a personal way through Jesus Christ. Today we look at the first part of Psalm 19, a song meant to cause us to look up and listen to the glorious creation God has made.

Words to Live By

It is one thing to hear God’s Word, it is even another thing to be affected by the truth of what God has said. But merely hearing or even being affected by the truth of God’s Word means nothing if we are not submitted to it. Today as we finish the book of Revelation we are reminded that it is what we do with the words of this prophecy that really matters. If we seek to make God say what we want Him to say we show that we have not submitted ourselves to His Word and instead seek to make God submit to us. If, however, we hear the Word, seek to understand that Word, and faithfully follow it, we will find ourselves being blessed and escaping the curses of sin rather than losing a blessing and receiving curses.

Famous Last Words

In God’s final words of scripture, God finds it utterly important for us to know that Jesus is coming to repay us for what we’ve done but blessed are those whose sins are forgiven in the cross and resurrection. Jesus in these final words invite us to come. The gospel is the central message that we must know and believe! For those in Christ we live in the hope of the gospel. For those who are not Christians there is only hope for you in the cross and resurrection. Today we see these final words in the book of Revelation that are meant to encourage and challenge us.

The Farewell Address

If God wrote a farewell address what would it say? Not that God is going anywhere but what would His culminating message to be for mankind? God has given us all we need for life and godliness through the infallible scriptures. At the end of the book of Revelation, God caps off this message for all of time and gives us several challenges and encouragements before the end of all time. In this we are reminded of what God has done and what God will do. As we live by faith in what God has done and will do, we are challenged to live out a life of obedience towards Him.
