Due to the order by our governor, New Liberty will be suspending church services until after April 7. We will be in touch at that time. This is not something we want to do, but feel we should do. While we had discussed video taping the sermon and sending it out, we did not get that accomplished before the quarantine. Sterling Christian has a podcast you can find on their page, and I also found one at www.disciplesnet.org which even had a communion service included. God bless us all as we struggle thru this.

Sermon for March 15 Have Faith from Joshua 2 & 3 by Ron Hatley
When we left off last week, the leadership had transferred from Moses to Joshua. God does not dwell in the past and wanted to move on to the fulfillment of the promised land. In verse one of Chapter 2 Joshua sent two spies to look over the land, especially Jericho. Why? Because it was a fortress–so huge there were chariot races on top of the walls! The spies took refuge at the home of Rahab, a woman, a pagan, not Jewish, pr******te. Why did God send them to her? It makes no sense at all to us, but we can only see it from our perspective, not God’s. He sees the big picture. Only He could use someone like Rahab to accomplish something in the pagan world. The king of Jericho was told about the spies and sent a message to Rahab to turn them over to him. But she instead hid them, telling the messengers that two men came to her but she had no idea where they were from. She lied to the messengers, saying that the two men left and she didn’t know where they went. They were hiding on her roof under the flax that was laid out for drying! When the messengers left in search of the men, she went to the spies and told them she knew of their history, knew that their people had been given this land and that the Lord had dried up the Red Sea for them to escape, that they had destroyed the giants, Sihon and Og. She told them the residents of this land are in fear of them. It is evident they know that God would help the Israelites defeat the people in this land. She pled with them to not hurt her family since she helped them. They agreed. They also said that in order to keep her family safe during the attack, she must keep their secret and place a red cord in the window of her home. She agreed and told them to go to the hills for 3 days. They did so, then went to report to Joshua.
Early the next morning the Israelites went to the Jordan river and camped. They spent 3 days getting ready to attack Jericho. God, thru Joshua, instructed them to have the ark of the covenant carried out to the middle of the river and the people to follow 1000 cubits behind. Twelve men, one from each tribe, were to stand in the river. Now you need to know that the Jordan is at flood stage. They had to wonder how God was going to do this, but the minute they took a step to the edge of the water, God stopped the flow of the water. There was not even mud! Those carrying the ark stayed in the middle of the river while the whole nation of Israel crossed on dry ground. The amazing part of this was there were over 3 million people to cross. How long would that take? A day? Two? What about the priests holding the ark? Wouldn’t they get tired? God had to have given them strength and energy to stand there! God wants us to realize we serve a God of impossibilities! Every facet of every creation is under His authority! God knows and controls everything, big or small! God is never OK with us being stagnant in our faith. We must have faith that God is in control and realize we serve a God of all power. We must trust that He has our lives in His hands!

Continually Surrounded
“The LORD’s unfailing love surrounds the man who trusts in him. Rejoice in the LORD and be glad, you righteous; sing, all you who are upright in heart!” Psalm 32:10, 11
God controls and allows very detail of our lives. Nothing happens without His knowledge and approval. Every day, little changes in schedule or small irritations occur. Everyday, we can choose to let these obstacles upset us, or we can rest in the knowledge that God lovingly ordained them as small irritants to help us look to and rely on Him. For example, we can grumble about the frustrating traffic jam that is keeping us from getting somewhere on time, or we can remember that God knows about our deadlines and view the time sitting in traffic as an opportunity to pray. We can complain, or we can rejoice.
May we allow the knowledge that we are continually surrounded by God’s unfailing love to permeate our lives and chase away our complaints and fears.

Reverend Billy Graham tells of a time early in his ministry when he arrived in a small town to preach a sermon. Wanting to post a letter, he asked a young boy where the post office was. When the boy had told him, Dr. Graham thanked him and said, 'If you'll come to the Baptist Church this evening, you can hear me telling everyone how to get to heaven.' The boy replied, 'I don't think I'll be there... You don't even know your way to the post office.'

Devotions for this Week

No, in all these things we are more than victorious through Him who loved us. – Romans 8:37

Have you ever won something? Maybe it was winning a speech contest, getting a solo in choir, or making the winning shot in basketball. When you do well or win something, it is a really great feeling.
That feeling of victory is how we should be living our lives everyday. God tells us that He made us more than victorious. That means that you are a winner. You can walk around your school, job, and home with your head held high because you know that you’re a winner. You’ve got value to God because He placed value on you. God loves you and has an awesome plan for your life.
So be encouraged today, you are a winner because of who God says you are. You can experience victory every day because of who God made you to be.

Worse Punishment?
An Air Force cargo plane was preparing for departure from Thule Air Base in Greenland. They were waiting for the truck to arrive to pump out the aircraft's sewage holding tank. The Aircraft Commander was in a hurry, the truck was late in arriving, and the Airman performing the job was extremely slow in getting the tank pumped out. When the commander berated the Airman for his slowness and promised punishment, the Airman responded, 'Sir, I have no stripes, it is 20 below zero, I have a bang on my head, I'm stationed in Greenland, a dog ran off with my coat, and I am pumping sewage out of airplanes. Just what are you going to do to punish me?'

Sermon for October 20 Leviticus 8 & 9 Shout & Worship by Ron Hatley
We will see in our study today that what we treasure will bring us our greatest joy. In order for us to be pleasing in God’s eyes requires 2 things: 1. a work for the forgiveness of God; and 2. The peaceful existence with God.
In Chapter 8 we are getting a much more detailed account of what it takes to be a priest than what we got in Exodus. God tells Moses to gather all the Israelites at the entrance of the tent. This is Millions of people. Moses prepared Aaron. He washed him & robed him; he put the ephod and breast piece on him; he put Urim & Thummim in side the breast piece. He put a turban upon his head and set the gold plate on the front. Please notice that Moses is the only one who is allowed in the presence of God. Moses is just a guy, not a priest. But God is honoring Moses by allowing him to do priestly duties. So, just what is a priest? It is someone who represents God to the people and vice versa. Moses, acting as priest, consecrated the alter & all the utensils. Moses presented a bull for the sin offering and then the ram for the burnt offering. The burnt offering represents their complete commitment to God and is a partnership between the priest, the person offering it, and God. Moses then consecrated Aaron and his sons and told them to stay at the entrance of the tent for 7 days and night. Seven represents perfection & completeness. Moses was never made pure, yet was able to do all these things. God had to have “made” him pure, or Moses would have died when he did these things. In order for the Lord to appear, they all have to be clean and consecrated as pure, or they would die. By doing all of these things to Aaron and his sons, there had just been a transition from Moses being in charge to Aaron and his sons. God cannot show up unless the work in preparation for Him is done! When they had done everything the Lord had commanded, fire came out from the inner tent, hit the alter, consuming the burnt offering and fat on the alter. When the people saw this, they shouted for joy & fell on their faces. The joy because there is nothing better than being in the presence of God! They fell on their faces because no one can look on the face of God!
We all have times of amazing highs, but tomorrow we may fall. Mankind is a fickle creature that often loses everything. If we are not paying homage to God, we are worshiping something else. Be careful what you worship instead of God!

Devotions for this week Stress Management Starts in the Mind By Rick Warren
“Think about the things that are good and worthy of praise. Think about the things that are true and honorable and right and pure and beautiful and respected” (Philippians 4:8 NCV).
The battle with stress in your life begins between your ears. It’s in your thought life. What you fill your mind with determines the level of stress in your life. The Bible says to “think about the things that are good and worthy of praise. Think about the things that are true and honorable and right and pure and beautiful and respected” (Philippians 4:8 NCV). To lower your stress, change what you think about. In this verse, the Bible gives us eight tests for deciding if we should allow something in our mind. Ask yourself, “Is it good? Is it worthy of praise? Is it true? Is it honorable? Is it right? Is it pure? Is it beautiful? Is it respected?" When you think about things that are good, worthy of praise, true, honorable, right, pure, beautiful, and respected, you’re really picturing God.
Isaiah 26:3 says, “You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in you, all whose thoughts are fixed on you!” (NLT).

Mrs Baker wanted to go ice fishing. She had read several books on the subject, and finally, after getting all the necessary equipment together, she made her way out onto the ice. After positioning her comfy stool, she started to make a circular cut in the ice. Frighteningly, from up above, a voice boomed, 'There are no fish under the ice.' Startled, Mrs Baker moved farther down the ice, poured herself a large coffee, and began to cut yet another hole. Again, from the heavens, the voice bellowed, 'There are no fish under the ice.' Mrs Baker, now became very concerned so she moved way down to the opposite end of the ice, set up her stool, and began again to cut her ice-hole. The voice rang out once more, 'There are no fish under the ice.' Mrs Baker, stopped, looked upwards and said, 'Is that you, Lord?' The voice replied, 'No, this is the Ice-Rink Manager.'
