We have all had moments in our lives... When we had no words to express our feelings... just a smile,
laughter... amazed at God’s provision... when our only response was wonder and praise .
One of Pastor Mark’s favorite Christian authors, Ann Lammott, writes about these kinds of moments. As she has gotten older, she’s realized that when she prays, her words often fail to meet the intensity of her life, they fail to capture the depth of her thoughts and emotions. So, these days she keeps her prayer life simple. She writes, “I do not know much about God and prayer, but I have come to believe, over the past twenty-five years, that there’s something to be said about keeping prayer simple. Help. Thanks. Wow.”
What are those “Wow, God!” moments in your lives right now?
What are the “Thank you, God!” Moments?
What are the “God, help me!” Moments?
Let’s create space this Advent season to say “Thanks, God” for the treasures of this life — family, friends, the beauty of creation — and let’s say, “Wow, God!” For the tiny miracles we experience each day — a sunset, a kind gesture, laughter — and finally, let’s not be afraid to ask for “Help!” For ourselves and the ones we love, and for the world.
Together, as we reflect on God’s presence and provision this season, may we all be filled with wonder and praise!
