New Mercy for a New Morning
Lamentations 3:22–23
“Through the Lord’s mercies we are not consumed, because His compassions fail not. They are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness.”
Devotional Thought
Jeremiah spoke these words while standing in the middle of sorrow. Jerusalem had fallen. The people were grieving. The future looked uncertain. Yet, in the middle of everything that had gone wrong, Jeremiah remembered what had not changed.
God was still merciful.
The prophet didn’t say life was easy. He didn’t pretend the pain wasn’t real. He simply recognized that their suffering had not exhausted God’s compassion. They were still standing because mercy had held them together.
That is our testimony this morning. We may have walked through disappointment, pressure, loss, confusion, or failure, but we have not been consumed. God kept us through the night. He carried us through what should have broken us. And now, with the rising of a new day, He has given us fresh mercy.
Yesterday’s mercy was sufficient for yesterday. Today, God has already prepared what we need for today. We don’t have to live this morning under yesterday’s guilt, fear, or frustration. The faithfulness of God has met us again.
So, we enter His presence with gratitude. We come honestly. We come humbly. And we come believing that the God who carried us yesterday will be faithful today.
A Tabernacle Prayer
Outside the Tent
Father, we pause before entering Your presence. We quiet our thoughts and turn our attention toward You. We release the noise, the hurry, and the weight we carried into this morning. Thank You for bringing us through another night. Thank You that we’re still here because Your mercy kept us.
The Outer Court
We enter Your gates with thanksgiving and Your courts with praise. You are good, and Your mercy endures forever. You have been better to us than we have been to ourselves. You protected us, covered us, and watched over our homes. Great is Your faithfulness.
The Brazen Altar
Lord Jesus, we remember Your sacrifice. We thank You for the blood that forgives, cleanses, and restores. We bring You every sin, every failure, and every place where we have fallen short.
Forgive us for the words we should not have spoken, the attitudes we allowed to grow, and the things we knew to do but did not do. We lay down guilt, shame, bitterness, pride, and fear. Because of Your mercy, we are not condemned. Because of Your grace, we can begin again.
The Laver
Father, wash us and make us ready for this day. Cleanse our minds from anxious thoughts. Cleanse our hearts from resentment. Cleanse our mouths from careless speech.
Wash our motives, our reactions, and our desires. Let the mercy we have received shape the mercy we show to others. Help us walk clean, speak kindly, and live faithfully before You.
The Holy Place
The Lampstand
Holy Spirit, shine Your light upon our path. Give us wisdom for every decision and discernment for every conversation. Show us what we cannot see on our own. Order our steps and keep us from confusion.
Let Your Word become a lamp to our feet and a light to our path. May we not be guided by fear, pressure, or emotion. Lead us by Your Spirit.
The Table of the Bread of Presence
Father, thank You for being our provider. Give us this day our daily bread. Supply what we need physically, spiritually, emotionally, and financially.
Strengthen the tired. Encourage the discouraged. Provide for families facing hardship. Remind us that we don’t face this day alone. Your presence goes with us, and Your grace will be sufficient.
The Altar of Incense
Lord, we lift our families before You. Cover our children. Strengthen marriages. Heal strained relationships. Comfort those who are grieving. Touch those who are sick.
Remember our churches, pastors, leaders, communities, and nation. Save those who are lost. Restore those who have wandered. Give hope to those who feel consumed by the circumstances of life.
Let our prayers rise before You. May Your compassion reach every person and every place that needs Your mercy today.
The Holiest of Holies
Holy God, we come near because Jesus has made a way. We rest beneath the covering of Your presence. We stop striving. We stop worrying. We stop trying to carry what belongs in Your hands.
Speak to us and align our hearts with Your will. Teach us to trust Your faithfulness when we cannot trace Your hand. Remind us that nothing we face today is greater than the mercy You have already provided.
We receive new mercy for this new morning. We receive fresh strength, fresh peace, fresh wisdom, and fresh hope.
Because of Your mercy, we will not be consumed.
Because of Your compassion, we will not be abandoned.
Because of Your faithfulness, we will face this day with confidence.
Your mercy has gone before us. Your presence will remain with us. Your goodness will follow us.
Great is Your faithfulness.
