TEMPLE TUESDAY | June 16, 2026

On Monday, crews installed the first exterior stone at the Vancouver Washington Temple. Although the initial stonework is difficult to see from the street and largely hidden behind scaffolding, it is expected to become more visible as additional stone is installed over the coming weeks.

Inside the temple, crews were framing the openings for the future stained-glass windows in the baptistry. Sheetrock installation has begun in some first-floor rooms. On the second floor, self-leveling is nearing completion, and Dusty, the construction layout robot, has mapped approximately two-thirds of the floor in preparation for the next phase of framing.

"Jesus Christ understands our challenges, having taken on not only our sins but also our griefs, sicknesses, and frailties. Because He endured and completed the infinite atoning sacrifice, He empathizes perfectly with us. He can 'calm [our] anguish' and offers 'gentle … peace … for [our] beseeching.' He, and only He, can consider every factor that shapes who we are: our genetics, intellectual abilities, traditions, experiences, mental and emotional conditions, and every other circumstance that affects who we are. He, and only He, will eventually judge us 'according to [our] works, according to the desire of [our] hearts.'

"Because of Jesus Christ, all that is unfair in life can and will be made right. He will consecrate our afflictions for our gain. He will sanctify to us our deepest distress. He will fill with sweet a bitter cup. He will dependably and consistently make us whole. If we let Him, we will “suffer no manner of afflictions, save it [is] swallowed up in the joy of Christ.” —Elder Dale G. Renlund, "Because of Jesus Christ," general conference, Apr. 2026

"I have found joy in connecting with fellow Saints through the shared language of sacred music. And especially through the simple songs of Primary, the Holy Spirit has transcended language barriers and filled my heart with His whispering. In children’s voices, the love of God and His Son, Jesus Christ, has been proclaimed in clear, piercing truth."
Sister Tracy Y. Browning - October 2025 General Conference

Window testing is underway at the Vancouver Washington Temple, where crews are simulating rainfall at a rate of eight inches per hour while applying negative pressure inside the building to ensure the watertight performance of each window installation.

Further exterior work continues on the north and south ends of the temple. Brackets for the stone mounting system are being installed on the northwest corner as crews prepare for the first stone installation. Steel framing on the south side is beginning to outline the temple's future front entrance. Roofing on the west side of the temple is nearing completion, joining levels four and five, where roofing is already complete.

At the maintenance building, crews have installed the roof deck and are applying a protective roof coating. On the west side of the property, landscape grading continues, preparing the area for topsoil, irrigation, and future landscaping.

"Because Jesus Christ knows all about best days and worst days: suffering so great that an angel was sent to strengthen Him, the betrayal of a good friend, the cross on Calvary. But His story also has a garden, a stone rolled away, and an empty tomb. Because of Him, no matter how bad things are right now, your best days are ahead."
