Celebrating 75 Years of Faith, Joy, and Care for Creation
Immanuel Lutheran Church – Earth Day Anniversary Reflection
On this meaningful day—Earth Day—Immanuel Lutheran Church marks 75 years of ministry, a milestone filled with deep gratitude, joy, and renewed commitment. It is fitting that our anniversary falls on a day when people around the world pause to honor the gift of creation, because our story has always been rooted in God’s love not only for people, but for the whole earth.
For 75 years, Immanuel has been a place where faith comes alive—through worship, service, community, and compassionate justice. Generation after generation has gathered to pray, to sing, to serve, and to grow. We give thanks for those who came before us, whose vision, courage, and dedication planted seeds of faith that continue to bear fruit today.
And yet, anniversaries are not only about looking back; they are also about looking forward.
Earth Day reminds us that our calling extends beyond the walls of the church. As people of faith, we are entrusted with the care of God’s creation. Scripture tells us that the earth is the Lord’s and all that is in it, and from the very beginning, humanity has been called to tend and keep the garden. This sacred responsibility connects directly to our life as a congregation: to love, to serve, and to protect the dignity of all creation.
At Immanuel, we see this calling expressed in many ways, including through acts of service, advocacy for justice, hospitality to neighbors, and a growing awareness of how our choices impact the earth and one another. Caring for creation is not separate from our faith; it is a living expression of it.
So today, we celebrate with joy the:
• 75 years of ministry that have shaped who we are
• community we share and the relationships that sustain us
• ways God continues to work through us for healing and hope
And we recommit ourselves:
• To be faithful stewards of God’s creation
• To live with intention, compassion, and justice
• To continue building a community rooted in love, inclusion, and dignity for all
As we step into this next chapter, we do so trusting that the same God who has guided Immanuel for 75 years will continue to lead us forward—calling us to nurture faith, care for creation, and embody Christ’s love in the world.
On this Earth Day anniversary, may we celebrate not only where we have been, but who we are called to become. With gratitude for the past, joy in the present, and hope for the future we give thanks for 75 years of God’s faithful presence among us.
Blessings & Grace,
Pr. Adrienne
