🌟 Life at Vancrest
Meet Joe, one of our assisted living residents at Vancrest of Van Wert.
Joe has been part of the Vancrest family for quite some time, and what started as a decision to support his wife has turned into a place he now calls home.
When his late wife needed extra help, Joe made it clear he was not letting her do it alone. If she was moving, it was going to be together. That decision brought them both to Vancrest, where he was able to spend meaningful time with her while knowing they were both receiving the care and support they needed.
Today, Joe continues to enjoy life here, surrounded by friendships, routine, and a strong sense of community.
He keeps himself busy with the things he loves, especially bingo and a daily game of pool after lunch with friends. He will be the first to tell you he is not the best player, but that is not the point. For Joe, it is about the laughter, the competition, and the simple joy of spending time together. He even jokes that it is a good way to get some exercise in, walking around the table during a game.
Joe speaks highly of the staff and the way he is treated each day. There is a genuine appreciation for the care, kindness, and attention he receives, which has helped make this feel like home.
His family feels that too. They have peace of mind knowing he is in a place where he is supported, surrounded by others, and never alone.
One of the things Joe enjoys most is the ease of daily life. Meals are taken care of, help is there when he needs it, and he is free to spend his time doing what he enjoys. He describes it as feeling a little like being on vacation every day, with friends nearby, great meals in the dining room, and a welcoming environment wherever he goes.
For Joe, it comes down to the people, the routine, and the sense of belonging he has found here. He is surrounded by friendly faces, good conversation, and a place that simply feels right.
His story is a reminder that home can take on new meaning, especially when it is filled with support, connection, and everyday moments that matter 💚
