Church Family,
As we begin walking through the difficult days ahead following the loss of our dear friend, Commander Michael, our hearts are heavy. Michael was more than a leader to our students—
he was a friend, mentor, and someone who faithfully invested in their lives. His absence will be deeply felt, and we know that some of our children may have a difficult time understanding and processing this loss.
In the days and weeks ahead, your child may have questions, experience sadness, or express their grief in ways we may not expect. Every child processes loss differently, and we want to do everything we can to walk alongside you as you help them through this time.
Through the GriefShare program we host here at the church, we have resources that may be helpful to your family. I have attached a handout with practical suggestions and conversation ideas to help you talk with your child about what has happened and give them a safe place to express what they are feeling.
Most importantly, remind them that they are loved, they are not walking through this alone, and that even in our sadness, we can find comfort and hope in Jesus. We are praying for each of our students and families as we grieve together and remember the difference Commander Michael made in so many lives.
Please know that we are here for you. If your child needs someone to talk with, pray with, or simply listen, please reach out. It would be our privilege to walk alongside your family during this difficult time.
In His Service,
Pastor J R and BCKids Min team
