Jesus said, “If your brother sins against you, go and tell him his fault, between you and him alone. If he listens to you, you have gained your brother.” Matthew 18:15

Christ Gains His Brother – What do you do when your Christian brother sins against you? You don’t complain about him to others, and you don’t confess his sin to the pastor. Jesus gives His Church this wonderful means of grace called the Office of the Keys. You go and tell your brother his fault between you and him alone. When he understands his sin and confesses it, you forgive him in the name of Jesus. You also confess your sin to your brother and receive his forgiveness from God. You are now both reconciled to one another and with God. You and Christ gain your brother.

Blessings to all this week! Join us for worship this Sunday, 8/30 at 9:00 a.m. in person or on Facebook.

Jesus told his disciples, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me.” Matthew 16:24

Crosses This Way – Why would anyone take that way? The way of the cross, the way of persecution, the way of suffering, the way of death? Because Jesus took that way. Jesus took the way of the cross, the way of suffering and death to save us from our sins. Then He rose from the dead in glory to pave the way to eternal life. We follow Jesus to life everlasting. But Jesus said, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me.” Following Jesus means that we will also bear a cross of persecution, suffering, and death before He raises us to eternal glory. Crosses this way to heaven.

Immanuel Lutheran invites everyone to a special Celebration of the Caleb Comfort Dog Ministry on Friday, September 4, at 1:30 p.m. at Immanuel Lutheran, 1700 Monticello Park Drive, Valparaiso, IN 46383.
Please enter under the bell tower. The celebration will be brief and will conclude no later than 2:00 p.m.
We’ll be joined by many Comfort Dogs as we give thanks for Caleb’s ministry and the many people he has touched through his visits and service.

Blessings to all this week! Our prayers to all who are still recovering from the storms last week. Join us for worship this Sunday at 9:00 a.m. in person or on Facebook.

Jesus asked his disciples, “Who do people say that the Son of Man is?” And they said, “Some say John the Baptist, others say Elijah, and others Jeremiah or one of the prophets.” He said to them, “But who do you say I am?” Matthew 16:13-15

A Case of Mistaken Identity – Many of the crowds in Jesus’ day and even today think of Jesus as only a good teacher, a great prophet, or a moral man, but this is a case of mistaken identity. When Jesus asked his disciples who they thought he was, Peter spoke for all of them, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God!” Who do people say you are? Some might say that you are only a sinner, a hypocrite, judgmental, or self-righteous, but this would be a case of mistaken identity because you are a repentant sinner, who confesses your sin, confesses Christ as your Savior, and receives His forgiveness. You are a Christian, a child of the living God!

HeritageSunday School & Youth Group will begin on September 13, 10:30-11:30 a.m. Sunday school is for ages 3 and up (must be potty-trained to stay on their own). We have a preschool class, though we ask that a parent stay with any children under age 3. Youth group is for confirmed youth.
