Dear Brothers and Sisters,

We are grateful to hear that so many of you are safe following the severe storms that moved through our area. We also know that some of our members have experienced significant damage, particularly within the Griffith and Illiana Ward boundaries.

We are organizing a stake cleanup effort to help those who have been impacted.

We will meet Saturday at 9:00 a.m. at the Griffith building:

300 West Wirth Road
Griffith, Indiana

Please bring chainsaws, rakes, work gloves, and any other cleanup equipment that may be helpful. Come ready to work! We will spend the day helping clean up storm damage and will prioritize individuals and families with the greatest needs.

We recognize that some members are still without power, phone service, or access to email and may not receive this message. Please help us spread the word and reach out personally to those around you who may not have received this communication.

If you have been impacted by the storm and have not yet been able to communicate your needs to a member of your bishopric or branch presidency.

Thank you for the incredible willingness we have already seen throughout the stake to look after one another. This is what it means to mourn with those that mourn, comfort those that stand in need of comfort, and bear one another’s burdens.

Please go volunteer Friday and serve your fellow man by helping clean up the debris from the June tornadoes. President Astle will be there at 8 am to hand out yellow helping hands t shirts to church volunteers.

Elder William Shepherd has returned home from his mission to Johannesburg, South Africa today! But before going home from the airport the family had to stop in Aurora at the Giving Machine at Fox Valley Mall and donate to the many awesome charities in the machine. what a great example to us all!
