Eli Regalado, pastor of an “online-only” nondenominational church based in Denver, has been charged with securities fraud for creating and selling a cryptocurrency. Regalado claims that God told him to create it and that his followers would get rich from buying it, but holders are unable to sell.

Colorado’s securities commission charged Eli and Kaitlyn with fraud. In a video statement to investors, Eli admits his guilt in selling a cryptocurrency knowing that investors could not exit and in taking $1.3 million for his personal use.

Chris Larsen, co-founder of Ripple, confirmed that over $112 million worth of XRP tokens has been stolen from his personal XRP wallets. He noted in a recent post on X that these were his wallets and not Ripple’s specifically. The number of tokens stolen totaled about 213 million.
