Mother Louise Barabin
A Righteous Crown comes with Keeping the Faith
2 Timothy 4:7-8
7 I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith:
8 Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.
I have known Mother Barabin all my life. From when my parents took me and my sister to the Church of the Living God, Pillar, Ground and the Truth in Daly City. Mother Barabin’s mother Pastor Cassie Anderson was our pastor until in 1970, when we followed one of her associate minster’s Elder Willie Finley to Vallejo where many of the members lived.
Years later I found out that after the passing of Pastor Anderson, the church closed and Mother Barabin became a member of Church of the Living God, P.G.T in Oakland, under Bishop Gibson. She came to worship with Church of the Living God, P.G.T. one Sunday when we were sharing a building and service with Grace Missionary Baptist in Vallejo.
She said, I reminded her of her Mom’s preaching and Pastor Kevin Armstrong was the best organist she had ever heard, and our choir was amazing. So, after a few visits and Pastor Armstrong telling her one more visit and we were going to kidnap her. Without the kidnapping, she joined Church of the Living God, P.G.T. Vallejo until she went to live with her son in Palm Springs, CA. Thankfully her children let us keep in touch with her. Eldress Elizabeth Colar and I would talk to her via Facebook and let her know how much we missed and loved her. Thank you, Patricia and Tony.
Mother Louise Barabin was completely faithful to the Church of the Living God, Pillar, Ground and the Truth. I wasn’t sure she would join with the two churches (Baptist and COTLG) having service together, but she said the Holy Spirit was reigning in those services and she wanted to be where the Holy Spirit was in charge of God’s house.
She said our services was like the services of old in her Mom’s church. Lively and spirit-filled and how she had missed such services.
I was just honored that she chose me to be her pastor. I knew she took her membership very seriously. She was going to be a faithful Church of the Living God member until the Lord calls her home, which He did on Christmas Eve, 2020.
2 Tim 4:7 sums up her spiritual life. She fought a good fight with the Church of the Living God’s doctrine ingrained in her heart and soul. Because of the church’s foundation in Jesus Christ as the corner stone, she was able to finish her course and her faith, sustained via the Church of the Living God, was kept until the end.
2 Tim 4:8 – Because of her steadfastness in the Church of the Living God doctrine there is a righteous crown in store for her which will be given by her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in that Great Getting-Up Morning and not only for her, but for everyone who believes in our Lord Jesus Christ.
So, I say sleep on Mother Barabin until we in Christ Jesus are all together again in the home built by the Living God’s Precious Son where every day will be Sunday and His Church will forever be Holy, Spirit-filled and Lively.
