New Beginnings African Methodist Episcopal Church of Vallejo, California was welcomed into the AME Connection at the 89th Session of the California Annual Conference held in Reno, Nevada. Isaac Johnson (father of the late Lillian Lane) was appointed to the charge. Members of the newly established church, who originally met in the chicken coop of a poultry farm, quickly began the work of “lifting u
p the name of Jesus” in worship, praise and work as a determined “community of faith”, reaching out to all in Vallejo. As the church grew, they moved from the original site to store front locale, finally settling in 1974 at it’s present site to a uniquely designed chapel setting at 1901 Carolina Street. As we continue to work with power, purpose and praise, let us remember the under shepherds past and present, who have endeavored to proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ with anointing and authority, leading the people in worship and service of God “in spirit and in truth” and the Vallejo community,Pastoral AppointeesReverend Isaac Johnson 1943-1945Reverend R.B.
