What if some of the most extraordinary ways God meets us happen in the most ordinary moments? ❤️

Last Sunday, as we celebrated World Communion Sunday, we explored the ways God meets us through the ordinary practices of faith. From opening Scripture to gathering around the Lord’s Table, we were reminded of John Wesley’s teaching that these are ordinary means through which God communicates extraordinary grace!

Take a look at a few moments from worship, along with a clip from the message, as we celebrate the grace that continues to meet us and shape us along the way.

And the journey continues! 🌳 This Sunday, Foundational Roots takes us deeper into the incredible work of Jesus Christ—and what his life, death, and resurrection mean for our lives today.

As we head into fall break weekend, we’re still falling over with joy as we think back on last Sunday’s Fall Bash! What a great time of fun and fellowship for our church and preschool, and for all ages to come together to celebrate the joy of community.

Oh and how cool was it that we asked our congregation to pray for a window without rain, and it stopped raining when we fired up the grill and started again after the last person left.

This is post 1 of 2… because the Cake Walk deserves its own post!

🍂🎉 FALL BASH IS TONIGHT! 🎉🍂
Join us from 5:00–7:00pm for an evening of food, music, bounce houses, a cake walk, ice cream, and plenty of fall fun for the whole family!

And yes, Fall Bash is happening RAIN OR SHINE! ☀️🌧️ If the rain comes, we have indoor activities and backup plans ready to go. In the meantime, join us in praying for a nice little window of dry weather so we can enjoy everything outside!

Bring the family, invite a friend, and come hang out with us tonight at First Methodist. We cannot wait to see you! 🍁

🎉 Happy Birthday to Brad Tarpley!

As our Director of Next Gen Ministries, Brad leads our Children’s Ministry, delivers the always-unpredictable (and beloved by all ages!) Children’s Moment each Sunday, and somehow also helps keep our buildings and facilities running throughout the week. As a former Valdosta Wildcat player and coach, Brad still brings plenty of that coaching spirit into ministry as he invests in the next generation and helps kids know they have a place at Valdosta First.

We are grateful for Brad’s easygoing spirit, servant’s heart, and willingness to jump in wherever he is needed. Help us wish "Coach Brad" a very Happy Birthday! 🎂

Over the past few weeks, Foundational Roots has taken us through the Trinity, culminating last Sunday with a look at the Holy Spirit—the God who lives within us, leads us, assures us, and helps us in our weakness.

Tomorrow, the conversation takes its next step: How do we experience the God we have been learning about? As we gather tomorrow we will discover some of the ordinary ways God meets us with extraordinary grace.

Where do we experience God? Sometimes in the extraordinary—but often in the ordinary places where God has promised to meet us: Scripture, prayer, worship, community, and a table of bread and cup. ❤️

Join us tomorrow for World Communion Sunday as "Foundational Roots" continues with the Emmaus Road story and the question, “How Do We Experience God?” Come discover again the grace of a God who meets us along the way.

A few of our staff headed to Montgomery the past few days to experience the New Room at Fraser Church. Through times of worship and teaching, it was great opportunity for our staff to “receive” so that they can be better equipped and nourished to lead and bless our church.
