Some Christians will tell you that taking an antidepressant means you don't trust God. Matt Loftus has heard all of it: including that medication will "dull the voice of the Holy Spirit."
His response is bracing and freeing: the Holy Spirit still speaks. We can't tinker with our brain chemistry enough to shut God out. Loftus is a physician who takes psychiatric medication himself, so this isn't theory—it's a word from someone who's needed both the medicine and the grace.
