The most meaningful part of our trip to Lviv was visiting people in need of help. We met with a recently widowed mother and her six year old daughter, as well as a twice wounded warrior in need of reconstructive leg surgery. Despite the difficult circumstances they are facing, both expressed their heartfelt gratitude for the financial help they received. To all our parishioners, our parish friends and supporters: THANK YOU!!!!!!
Your continued generosity makes our outreach possible. Your donations allow us to provide meaningful assistance to those who are struggling and most in need. We are deeply grateful for your compassion, generosity and continued support. Together, we are making a difference in the lives of those who need it most.

On August 30th in Ukraine and around the world, International Day of the Disappeared is remembered.According to Ukrainian sources, there are over 90,000 military personnel and civilians missing as a result of russian aggression. The families of the missing live in uncertainty and hopelessness not knowing the whereabouts of their loved ones. This was today’s memorial service in Lviv.

Today Utica celebrated the 35th anniversary of Ukraine's declaration of independence. A nice crowd took part on what started as a dreary day. Church trustee John Kosar, acting as master of ceremonies, gave a speech outlining the history of Ukraine over these past 35 years and discussed what can be done to support Ukraine in its battle against Russia. His Honor Michael Galime, mayor of Utica, NY, presented a proclamation from the city celebrating Ukraine's independence and expressed his support in its struggles to maintain its independence. The Ukrainian flag was then raised with the help of parish children while participants sang the Ukrainian national anthem. And as the flag was being raised the sun broke through the clouds shining its light upon the scene. The event concluded with the proclamation Slava Ukraini, Heroim Slava.

It was special to able to celebrate Ukrainian Independence Day and Flag Day these past few days. But my visit to Lviv would not be complete without being able to pay my respects to the soldiers who died protecting Ukraine’s freedom. Walking past the graves and seeing the pictures of the young men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice was a very somber and emotional experience.
EVERLASTING GLORY TO ALL THESE HEROES.
