Over the weekend CNN broadcast a story about Black Mountain, a community north of Ashville, NC that was devastated by the torrential rain of Helene. The news account documented how one church, Black Mountain Presbyterian Church, is feeding, clothing, and sheltering its neighbors - being the hands and feet of Christ. https://www.yahoo.com/news/pools-pumps-creeks-one-western-202902982.html Paula and I have made a contribution to assist this congregation in being the Body of Christ. You can too. I have posted a link to the church's homepage where you will find a link to its Hurricane Helene Relief Fund.

My prayers are ascending for my friends in nearby Rome, NY. A tornado touched down this afternoon causing extensive damage throughout the community. Especially hard hit was the First Presbyterian Church of Rome's historic building. The roof collapsed and the spire was blown off. In the aftermath of the storm, a state emergency is in effect for Oneida County.

A massive thunderstorm struck Rome and the surrounding area this afternoon, causing widespread damage to buildings, trees and property throughout the city. Daily Sentinel photographer John Clifford captured these visuals.
