Topic: How to Worship Through the Valley Experience

2 Chronicles 20: 3-26

Valley experience - a low place of uncertainty that attempts to boggle our minds.

Although our valley experience may be unwanted, God has a purpose and plan for what we have to endure for HIm.

How do we worship through our valley experiences according to King Jehoshaphat?

1. Fast and seek the Lord for His guidance through prayer (2 Chronicles 20: 3-4). We need to seek God by putting away distractions to seek God’s face and voice. Matthew 17:21 teaches us that we can only escape and overcome things through fasting and prayer. Consecration to God is vital to our spiritual upkeep. 2 Chronicles 20: 6-12 King Jehoshaphat shows us that it is important for us to reverence God for who He is and for what He has already done through prayer.

2. Wait for God’s response (2 Chronicles 20: 15-17). God will always answer His people. We must wait on Him. God affords us the opportunity to grow and mature with others (Hebrews 10:24-25). Guidance from God will always lineup with the Word of God which is why we must wait on Him (John 10: 27; Isaiah 40:31). If we profess to be a Christian, we must wait on God for His response and direction. Our life is dependent on it!

3. We must worship and praise Him (2 Chronicles 20: 18-19,26). Worship is a lifestyle for the believer. Worship is an inward posture that manifests itself outwardly. Worship is profound for us because it changes everything about us for the better. Worship is an act of giving ourselves to God. Praise declares God’s greatness and expresses words of adoration.

How will you respond to your valley experiences? Will you allow your faith to propel you into the depths of God,or will you allow your valley to stagnate you? Let’s choose to worship God and allow Him to exalt us in His timing.

Topic: Understanding the Move of God

1 Corinthians 12:1-3

1. If we are going to understand the move of God, we must become knowledgeable of the Spirit of God (1 Corinthians 12:1). We need to be committed to learn the things of God. It is to help advance the kingdom of God. There is a difference between rejecting something that we don’t understand and learning how God wants it to operate. Lacking spiritual maturity causes us not be the men and women that God desires us to be. We must spend time studying the Word of God and allow it to work upon us. We can feel His presence but not understand what He is calling for us to do - He is calling us to a place of holiness. He wants more than emotional responses from us, but would rather have us obedient to His word (Ephesians 5:17). Spiritual maturity = understanding the things of God. Ignorance causes us to resist what God is doing and misinterpret what God is saying.

2. We must understand that everything spiritual is not from God (1 Corinthians 12:2). Spiritual activity does not mean that it is divine activity. If we are knowledgeable of the things of God we won’t stray away from Him. The spirit of darkness is still operating now. We must possess discernment (1 John 4:1).

3. A true move of God will always exalt Jesus (1 Corinthians 12:3). If something else is exalting itself it is not a move of God. The Spirit of God glorifies Christ (John 16:13-14). We are in need of the Holy Ghost because He will always glorify Jesus! He should be the chief cornerstone in our lives (Acts 2:38). We need to open up ourselves to receive from God and not run away from Him.

4. We must learn how to recognize the move of God (1 Corinthians 12:1-3). He gives us principles of discernment. It is in agreement with the word of God (Isaiah 8:20). The move of God exalts Jesus. The move of God produces spiritual fruit. It should produce more than an emotional moment, but it should produce fruit. We should have changed behavior in each of us when we encounter God. The move of God always involves the Holy Ghost. He is not an accessory, but is essential to the move of God. We need the Holy Ghost!

God wants us to understand what He is doing and what He desires to do in our lives. He does not want us to be ignorant. He desires for us to be keen in our spiritual understanding.

Topic: We’re Still Blessed

Zephaniah 3:17

1. God is in the midst (John 15:7) - He is in the midst of His people. The most important blessing to us is Who Is in us. Is Christ within us? If we remain in God, we can navigate through every trial and tribulation, successfully (Psalms 16:11).

2. God is mighty. He is the same God, today, yesterday and forevermore! Let us not forget who He is (Psalm 46:1). He is our refuge and our very present help. He is a provider and is able! We have His help.

3. God still loves us. The mountains and the valleys are necessary! The valley experience doesn’t mean that the Father doesn’t love us (Jeremiah 31:3). His love calls us out of sin. He corrects us when we’re wrong because He loves us!

4. God will bring us through - giving us a way of escape! He will never leave us nor forsake us ( Matthew 1:21). He will save us, but we must we willing to accept the way of escape (Romans 8:28, Isaiah 46:10).

We must commit to the Word of God to truly experience His blessings. God is concerned about us. He’s a good Father!
