The mission of the United Methodist Church is a call to action for its members to live out their faith through discipleship, service, and transformation. By focusing on making disciples and engaging with the world, the UMC aims to fulfill its vision of a more just and loving society, reflecting the teachings of Jesus Christ in all aspects of life. This week we will gather together and worship while also being on a mission to the whole. Pentecost is the birthday of the Church celebrating the releasing of the Holy Spirit into the World. We see the mission of our church moving, living and breathing in 4 distinct ways, The first is Discipleship. The UMC focuses on forming disciples who are empowered by the Holy Spirit. This involves nurturing a relationship with God and encouraging individuals to grow in their faith and understanding of Jesus Christ. We do this with small groups and studies. Second, Transformation: The church believes in the transformative power of faith, aiming to bring about positive change in individuals and communities. This transformation is seen as a response to God's grace and love. We live out our faith in volunteer work, at jobs. We identify gifts and graces and find ways to plug in. Third is Community Engagement: The UMC emphasizes serving others, particularly the most vulnerable, and working towards justice and reconciliation in society. This is reflected in their commitment to love boldly, serve joyfully, and lead courageously. We are blest to be a blessing in all forms locally and worldwide. We have no boundaries in the mission of Christ. Lastly, Inclusivity: The church is committed to embracing people of all backgrounds, affirming that God's love is for everyone. This inclusivity is a fundamental aspect of their mission and outreach efforts. Join me this Sunday as we gather to worship and be about the mission of Urbanna United Methodist Church. I have seen the power of the Lord, through the smallest acts of Love. Let us experience that together.
In Christ with a purpose,
