As followers of Christ, we know we are called to trust God in all things, which we also know is easier said than done. It may be easy to trust Him with easy things, but what about the hard stuff? What about our finances? Our housing? Our families? When we embrace stewardship, we have to let go of that grip we have on things that ultimately belong to the Lord, trusting Him to use all He has blessed us with for His glory. 💸 🏡 🧑‍🧑‍🧒‍🧒

This Labor Day, we give thanks for the many ways God calls us to serve—through our jobs, our families, our communities, and the everyday work of loving our neighbors.

And we give thanks for the gift of rest.

Whatever your work looks like, may you remember that God is present in it, and that your identity is found not in what you do, but in whose you are.

🩹 A mechanic won't fix your car if you refuse to bring it to the shop. A surgeon won't fix your ACL if you refuse to go to the hospital. God won't heal your wounds if you refuse to surrender them to Him. There's only so much healing that can happen when we continue to hold onto whatever caused the wounds in the first place. Once you surrender that to the Lord, though, then He will continue to restore and heal what's been broken. ❤️‍🩹

It's human nature to have preferences and friends who are closer than others. Even Jesus had close friends! But are we allowing our preferences too much influence over our decisions and lifestyle, becoming close-minded and removed from those who need our love?

God's love for you isn't determined by your wardrobe, your grades, your appearance, your income, or how many friends you have. He loves you because He loves you. We should carry this same mindset into our everyday lives—loving others not based on anything except that they are God's children, too. We're called to love even our enemies, even if we feel they don't deserve it, because that's what Jesus did for us. 💙

As much as we might think we don’t play favorites, when we take a closer look at our lives, there’s evidence of it all around. We all have preferences in our lives—perhaps preferred friends or coworkers, maybe introverts vs extroverts, maybe Hawkeyes vs Cyclones—but are you allowing those preferences to affect the way you treat people?
