Sunday will be the second week of our “Everything Beautiful” series. This week’s sermon title is “The Beautiful Church.” Our scripture reading will be Acts 2:42-47 and Acts 3:1-16. What were the practices of the early Church, and what did those practices produce in them that made them so attractive to others? Examine the account of Peter and John healing the crippled man and list all the ways this miracle relates to our salvation. Why is it important to give God the credit, and glory for his mighty acts? Why is it important for us not to take the credit when God works through us?

On Sunday a new sermon series begins; “Everything Beautiful.” This week’s sermon title is “Beauty of the Cross.” Our focus this week will be what makes the cross so beautiful, especially considering the horrific nature of a crucifixion. Read Luke 23:34, and 1 Corinthians 1:18. How did God make a cruel death holy? What does the crucifixion reveal about what God can do with your sin? Why do those who are lost fail to see the beauty of the cross? List three ways that help them find the beauty of the cross?

This week’s sermon title is “Happy Birthday Church!” Read Acts Ch.1 and 2, Jeremiah 31:31-34, Hebrews 8:6-13. This Sunday we will be celebrating our birthday. May 24th on our Christian calendar is Pentecost Sunday, the day God poured out the Holy Spirit on the expectant followers of Jesus, fulfilling his promise and establishing the new covenant between God and man. Pentecost is the birthday of the Church and we are benefactors of the new covenant which has given us the Holy Spirit. What is the church without the Holy Spirit? What are you without the Holy Spirit? How does the power of the Spirit activate and equip God’s children?

Prairie Chapel will hold a Church Conference following worship on Sunday, May 24th to discuss the ongoing daycare ministry and its impact on the overall church community. As we move forward, we remain committed to seeking God’s wisdom, upholding God’s will, and following God’s law in all decisions made for the church and its ministries.
We encourage all members to keep this matter in prayer as we work together in unity, faith, and stewardship for the benefit of our congregation and community.
