A group from U-C Friends Meeting sang holiday songs to the men and women at the Champaign County Jail recently, hoping to bring joy and peace to them in this season.

Synonym Grill concert, featuring Kevin Renick and Michael Hagmeier, Saturday, April 5th, 7:00 pm, at the Urbana-Champaign Friends Meeting House, 1904 E. Main Street, Urbana.

Renick & Hagmeier will play classic rock chestnuts along with original songs by both members of the band.

The band features singer-songwriter Kevin Renick, best known for his some “Up in the Air,” featured in the film of the same name, and composer/multi-instrumentalist Michael Hagmeier. Added to the band’s folk and rock sound are the exotic sounds of the didjeridu along with Middle-Eastern percussion.

Suggested donation is $10, but no one will be turned away due to lack of funds. Doors open at 6:30, show starts at 7:00.

This Saturday, 5-7pm, we will be celebrating being in our building for 20 years. It looks like a lovely evening to share snacks (provided) games, music and a short history of our building. Please join us and bring family friends!!

We had a great experience singing at the county jail on Sunday! We were able to see the men and women, and they could see us. Lots of smiles and clapping, and many folks joined us in singing Jingle Bells.

Our Meetinghouse has many different types of beautiful trees. We are opening up our grounds for a public celebration. There will be snacks, music and tours. Please join us!!
