CrossTalk - Come Alive

Day 1: The Heart Behind the Snort

• Scripture: “Jesus, once more deeply moved, came to the tomb...” — John 11:38

• Reflect:

The Greek word for "deeply moved" (embrimaomai) means to take issue with, to charge, or to snort like an angry horse. Jesus wasn’t just sad at the tomb; He was furious at the pain, brokenness, and death holding His family captive. When He looks at your past, your hurts, or your addictions, He isn't looking down with cold disappointment. He looks with a holy frustration against the enemy keeping you in bo***ge. He is actively moved to rescue you because you are His.

• Prayer:

Jesus, thank You that You don’t stand distant from my pain. Thank You for being a Savior who takes issue with what breaks my heart and stands ready to fight for me. Amen.

This Wednesday is Firestarter in Mahomet!

Firestarter is an intentional worship and prayer gathering. We spend time in worship, prayer, and the Word in an intimate environment that promotes community and has room for questions.

Community resources (food pantry, clothes closet, Bibles, and other resources are on hand during Firestarter.

We are intentional about loving Mahomet for Jesus and want to be a part of God's good plans for our community!

Cross Talk - Imperfectly Perfect
Day 5

No one likes to admit it, but it happens. We mess up, we make a bad choice, we act in the moment, we say, we do it, we look at it, we give in. We don’t want that; we want to follow Jesus, but it happened.

What do we do now?

Step 1 - Take Accountability (No excuses - admit it to yourself and to God, apologize where you can)

Step 2 - Listen (Don't defend, listen, don't excuse- listen to God, listen to others)

Step 3 - Repent (Give it to God, commit with His help to not go back to it… know your triggers)

Step 4 - Move on

Move on means: I have taken responsibility, confessed, listened, and returned to God.

Psalm 51:

Create in me a clean heart, O God. Restore to me the joy of my salvation. Renew a willing spirit within me.

The Christian life is not a journey to Jesus, but a journey with Jesus.

And when we fall… by His grace and mercy, we rise again.

Reflection Questions:

Do I truly believe I am forgiven in Christ?

What am I still carrying that Jesus has already forgiven?

How would my life change if I fully believed I am not defined by my failure?

Cross Talk - Imperfectly Perfect
Day 3
Step 1 - Take Accountability (No excuses - admit it to yourself and to God, apologize where you can)

Step 2 - Listen (Don't defend, listen, don't excuse- listen)

3. Listening to God -
What is God’s Word saying to me about this situation?

Am I actually making space to listen to God, or just reacting emotionally?

What truth do I need to replace my current thoughts with?

4. Listening to Others-
Who do I need to listen to without defending myself?

What might God show me through someone else’s perspective?

Am I more focused on being right or being restored?

PUMP AND PRAY IS BACK!

Saturday, June 13, starting at 10am!

We are back with Pump and Pray. This time, we are blessing Urbana!

Last year, Pump and Pray was amazing. God moved in the community, and we can't wait to do it again.

Pray for us or join us and the youth as we go out to love the community for Jesus!

CrossTalk “No buts”
Day 4 — Faith Takes a Step

Scripture:

Judges 6:25–27

Devotional:

Eventually Gideon had to move.

Not perfectly.
Not fearlessly.
But faithfully.

God told Gideon to tear down the altar of Baal, and Gideon obeyed. Yes, he did it at night because he was afraid — but he still did it.

That’s important.

God is not waiting for perfect confidence before you obey Him.

He is looking for willingness.

Sometimes we think faith means having zero fear.

But biblical faith often means obeying while still feeling afraid.

A step of faith may feel small:
Starting the conversation.
Forgiving someone.
Praying again.
Trusting again.
Serving again.
Sharing your faith.
Surrendering your future.

But small steps of obedience often become the beginning of breakthrough.

Faith begins where excuses end.

Reflection Questions:

What step of faith is God asking you to take?

What fear keeps trying to stop you?

What would obedience look like today — even if it feels uncomfortable?

Prayer:

God, give me courage to obey You even when I feel afraid. Help me stop making excuses and start taking steps of faith. Amen.
