April is all about the best friend ever, Jesus!
God loved us so much that He sent us is only son, Jesus to that we may have everlasting life! What a big truth to teach our little ones.

Week 1 in FTC Kids Jr., we looked at the story of Peter walking on water as we learned that our friend Jesus is always with us. He’s with us when things are good, when everyone is happy and healthy and the sun is shining bright. And He’s with us when things seem bleak, when we get a call with bad news and when the sky is full of rainclouds.

No matter what happens, we can trust Jesus when He says, “I am with you always.” (Matthew 28:20)

March Week 4 in FTC Kids Jr., we closed out this month’s theme by learning about Jesus feeding the 5,000!

When Jesus saw the huge, hungry crowd, He had compassion. He told his disciples to look for food to feed them, but all they could find was one small lunch of 2 fish and 5 small loaves of bread.

But nothing is impossible for Jesus!

He took that one small lunch and multiplied it to feed the crowd… with LEFTOVERS! Jesus made sure everyone had enough to eat. There were no conditions on His generosity. And that’s good news for us too. Because everyone can be friends with Jesus!

🎨 This week at home, you can make bread into a masterpiece with food color paint as you learn about Jesus feeding 5,000 people!

Mix food colors and water in small bowls to create “paint.” Use paintbrushes to paint the slices of bread. **Although definitely edible, you may want to skip eating the painted bread—and a colorful tongue—this time and just have fun making art. Talk about how amazing a friend Jesus is. After teaching all day, He still made sure everyone had food to eat. Everyone can be friends with Jesus.

March Week 3 in FTC Kids, our story was from Luke 5:17- 26.

We discovered a paralyzed man who just happened to have some excellent friends. When they heard that Jesus was in town, they tried everything to get their friend to Jesus. When they arrived, the place was packed. Instead of giving up, the friends went to the roof and tore a hole big enough to drop their friend down right in front of Jesus. Jesus did something unbelievable because of their faith and cooperation.

Bottom Line:
Work together to help someone in need.

When we see others with needs that seem huge
and overwhelming, we often think they’re too big for us to help and end up doing nothing. However, if we cooperate with others to meet those needs, we have a better chance of making a difference in their life and pointing them to God.

March Week 3 in FTC Kids Jr., our story was about The Twelve.

When Jesus started His ministry at age 30, He chose 12 different men to follow Him as His closest friends— known as the disciples.

The disciples He chose. Fishermen, tax collectors, betrayers... Jesus knew them all—better than they knew themselves. He knew all of their mistakes— past, present, and future, and He still chose them.

It’s a reminder to us and to our little ones that no matter who you are, where you’re from, or what you’ve done… everyone can be friends with Jesus.

For this week’s actibity, practice counting to 12 using wooden people because Jesus had 12 special friends.

Paint the peg people together with your children; once dry, write numbers 1-12 on their bottoms. Write numbers 1-12 on a piece of paper and have your child find the peg people, starting with number one, and place each on the correct corresponding number until they’ve counted to 12.

Talk about the twelve disciples. Jesus chose these people to be His friends. Jesus said to them, “Follow Me,” and they did. These men did everything with Jesus and saw Him do amazing things. Everyone can be friends with Jesus!

March Week 2 in FTC Kids, we looked at Exodus 17:8-13, at a time where Joshua is leading the Israelites in a fierce battle against the Amalekites.

When Moses held up his staff, the Israelites were winning the battle. When Moses got tired, Aaron and Hur came to the rescue and helped hold up his arms. The Israelites won the battle because of how they all cooperated.

Bottom Line: Work together to help someone succeed.

Like Hur and Aaron, our kids need to realize that working together isn’t just about doing something for themselves. You can work with people to help others accomplish something as well.

March Week 2 in FTC Kids Jr., your PRESCHOOLER learned that everyone can be friends with Jesus even if they have done something wrong.

Our story took us to Matthew 9:9-12 when Jesus has an encounter with Matthew, a tax collector who worked for Rome taking money from his own people for an oppressive foreign government. Matthew was despised by his fellow Jews. But Jesus passes right by all of the expected friend choices, and He heads straight to Matthew’s table and says, ‘Follow me.’ Matthew was probably still holding money in his hand, but he left it all and followed Jesus.

What a relief to know that Jesus wants to be our friend, even when we mess up or make bad choices! No matter what we’ve done, everyone can be friends with Jesus.

🎨For this week’s activity, place a coin underneath a sheet of paper. Gently color over just where the coin is to make an impression. Repeat using different coins and colors all over your paper! Talk about Matthew the tax collector and how he would collect more money than he was supposed to when he collected the taxes. But Jesus loved him anyway and told Matthew to “Follow Me!” Everyone can be friends with Jesus.

March Week 1 in FTC Kids Jr. your preschooler learned that Jesus says, “Follow Me.”

Our story started with Jesus gathering those who would become His inner circle, His closest friends—the disciples. Jesus didn’t go to the religious leaders. He didn’t go to the kings. He went to...fishermen. I’m sure they were as shocked as anyone, which probably explains why they dropped their nets and followed so quickly.

Here's a fun activity you can do with your preschooler! First cut out small fish from the foam sheet and draw faces with the marker. Then cut lengths of string and tie them to the end of the dowels to create “fishing poles.” Next hot glue magnets to the end of the fishing lines as “hooks” and the backs of the fish. Then fill the container with water and add your fish. Take turns fishing by matching up the magnets on your fishing pole and a fish!

As you fish talk about how Jesus told the fishermen to follow Him. Everyone can be friends with Jesus.

While Jesus was on earth, He lived a life that very clearly said, “Everyone can be friends with Me!”

While not everyone took Him up on His invitation, those that did were changed forever in the best way. That is why we are teaching preschoolers in FTC Kids Jr. that no matter what kind of shoes we wear, everyone can be friends with Jesus. We can be friends with Jesus no how young or old. We can be friends with Jesus wherever we live and whatever language we speak. We can be friends with Jesus no matter how much money and education we have.

There are no special requirements to be friends with Jesus. It’s a come as you are kind of friendship that lasts forever. Everyone can put on their shoes and follow Jesus because everyone can be friends with Jesus.

March Week 1 in FTC Kids we looked at how God’s people cooperated to build the sacred tabernacle.

We read throughout Exodus 28, 31, 35, and 39 how God chose people to work together. God could have had Moses build this on his own, but instead, God called expert artists and builders along with all kinds of people to work together to create this incredibly intentional place of worship.

The Bottom Line? God wants us to work together!

Sometimes we think it’d be better if we didn’t have to rely on anyone else to get a job done, but this isn’t how God created us. God created us for community, to work together and do more than we can do on our own. We hope that kids see the value in cooperation because cooperation starts with God.

It’s MARCH! So you know what that means? A brand new theme in FTC Kids. This month it's all about COOPERATION.

Cooperation is a spiritual concept that originates with God. God created us to work together in a community. Throughout the Bible, we see how God brought people together to accomplish something big for Him. When we work together, we reflect what Jesus envisioned for His followers. Our love for one another can point people to Him.

February Week 4 in FTC Kids, we wrapped up the month by looking at a story found in Mark 10:46-52. It's an encounter between Jesus and Bartimaeus.

Bartimaeus was blind. Because of this, he was often ignored by those who passed by him. When he learns that Jesus is passing by, he calls out for help. Rather than walking past and getting on with his day, Jesus takes time to stop and help Bartimaeus. Jesus knew that Bartimaeus had faith and healed him, changing his life forever.

The Bottom Line? Make time to help others!

We all know people who require some help and compassion. However, we don’t always prioritize those people in our lives. Jesus showed us that prioritizing others and making time for them is important for demonstrating His love. We pray that elementary and pr***en kids will have a chance to think about the ways they make time throughout their day to meet the needs of those around them.

February Week 4 in FTC Kids Jr. your preschooler learned that we can love like Jesus— and dance and have a great time doing it!

We wrapped up the month with a truth that will change our lives. We can love everyone just like Jesus loves everyone. We can love the people who are different than us. We can love people who have made bad choices. We can love all of them because Jesus loves all of them.

You can bake heart-shaped cookies to share with a friend or neighbor. Spread the love of Jesus to everyone! Cut out heart-shaped cookies and bake according to your recipe. Divide the frosting into small bowls, add food coloring, and mix. Once cookies have cooled, let kids decorate with frosting and sprinkles. Box up the cookies and deliver them to friends or neighbors!
