Congregation Sons of Israel-Nyack

Congregation Sons of Israel-Nyack An egalitarian conservative 200 family-member congregation in the heart of Nyack for 134 years! A new Educational Center has been added to our building.

Our congregation was founded in 1891, and after several moves and buildings, settled in 1967 in the park-like setting on the former site of the Pitkin estate. The main synagogue building consists of a large air-conditioned Sanctuary with inspiring stained glass windows, Social Hall, Kitchen, Rabbi’s Study, Library, and Main Office. During this past year we built a new Educational Center and renova

ted our Social Hall and Kitchen. The Social Hall is bright, airy and can accommodate Kiddushes, parties and events. Our Kitchen is modern and well-equipped to handle food preparation and cleanup. It consists of a spacious lobby, a large meeting room, a cantor’s office, principal’s office, a multi-purpose room, and a caretaker’s apartment with a separate entrance. We are thrilled that this space has been created due to the generosity of nearly 100 of our synagogue families who participated in our fundraising efforts. Very soon we will begin using our new large meeting room for Sunday minyanim, Board of Trustees meetings, adult education classes and special programs. We’re eager that our classrooms will be used for our tot and preschool programs, as well as our Hebrew School classes. We invite you to our synagogue for Shabbat services, which are held Friday evenings and Saturday mornings, and on all holidays. We also hold Sunday morning minyanim, which start at 9 am. For information about Shabbat service times, please go to our “Worship” page or call our synagogue at (845) 358-3767.
