When Hardship Is Mercy
Amos 4:6 — “But I gave you also cleanness of teeth in all your cities and lack of bread in all your places, yet you have not returned to Me,” declares the Lord.

“Cleanness of teeth” was a way of saying famine had come. God allowed real hunger and loss—not because He is spiteful or unfair, but because His people would not turn back to Him.

Unbelievers often look at that and conclude God is vengeful. Believers see something different.
Parents understand this. When a child rebels, love does not enable the rebellion. Love does what is best for the child, even when it is unpleasant.
The first question is never “What is easiest for me?” It is “What will actually help them?” That is the heart of God. His discipline is never random. His intentions are always perfect.

Proverbs 22:6 tells us to train a child in the way he should go.

1 Corinthians 10:31 calls us to do everything—receiving correction, giving it, living through hard seasons—for the glory of God.

Father, thank You that Your love is both gracious and holy. Thank You for the model You give us of patient, purposeful discipline. Help us trust You when the path is hard, and help us love our children and one another the way You first loved us.

What a sacred and joyful day!

Jesus blessed us with the honor of baptizing and celebrating 23 redeemed souls; from young children all the way through adulthood. Each one has chosen to publicly declare their love for Him and their desire to walk with Jesus for the rest of their lives.

Thank You, Lord Jesus, for every life You have drawn to Yourself. Heaven is rejoicing, and so are we. To God be all the glory.

We were buried therefore with him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life.”
