Construction on Old Clifty Church began in 1858 and was put on hold due to the war. Once the men came back from the war, construction started again and the church was completed in 1867. The church started out mainly as a Methodist church, but throughout the years has always been non-denominational. On August 31, 2020, Old Clifty Church was officially entered in the National Historic Registry. Today, the church doesn't have the following that it once had. Services have not been held for many years, but there are still weddings, family reunions, picnics, a Christmas Eve service and the annual Old Clifty Day held the 2nd Sunday in August. As time passes by the amount of folks that follow the church and are interested in maintaining it seems to be dwindling. There is a fresh effort to regain/grow the amount of followers in the church. This is a part of our history and needs to be preserved, as well as the church is there to be used and enjoyed! This page was built to help in preserving the history that surrounds the church, inform people about it and events being held there. Also there needs to be funds raised to maintain the church so that it will be available for generations to come. The church needs to have regular maintenance performed and needs the financial support of anyone that can help out. So please help us maintain this historic site by making a generous tax deductible donation today. If you would like to make a donation, there are a few different ways to show you care:
