Exodus3LA Encountering the Reality of Jesus Christ

www.yelp.com/biz/exodus3la-los-angeles-2 Did you know the Gospel means “good news”? No strings attached. No religion.

Exodus3 found its origins in a small Bible Study in the living room of our beloved Pastor Chi Song. Our name comes from the second book of the Bible, Exodus, where God uses Moses and later Joshua, to deliver the Israelites out of their slavery in Egypt and into the Promised Land. After this first exodus comes the second in which God uses the prophet Nehemiah to lead His people out of Babylonian ca

ptivity. We are now living in the time of the third exodus. We believe the first two exoduses were a foreshadowing of the third exodus in which God delivers those who are spiritually bound by legalism or the like into spiritual freedom through Jesus Christ. Similar to how Moses had a real encounter with God through a burning bush in the third chapter of Exodus, we believe genuine spiritual freedom can only be experienced when one truly encounters the grace of God. We invite you to join us and taste the authentic flavor of the Gospel as it was originally intended. As we allow God to live His life through His followers, this brings true freedom, genuine peace, and most importantly, rest. This rest is a direct result of developing an intimate relationship with Jesus Christ. No guilt-trips. Only Truth. Unadulterated. Unfiltered. Raw. Truth. Finally. A place where you can come and experience what it really means to “enjoy Jesus.”

“I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing. If you do not remain in me, you are like a branch that is thrown away and withers; such branches are picked up, thrown into the fire and burned. If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. This is to my Father’s glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples.”
‭‭John‬ ‭15‬:‭5‬-‭8‬ ‭

Dear Lord, thank you for the indwelling Holy Spirit through your son Jesus Christ. Though various thoughts and lies come into my mind from every direction, thank you for your continuous pouring out of the Spirit that leads me to truth, and overwhelming every corner of my heart. May you lead and guide me today from one moment to the next by your grace and power, as you transform me to be more like you. May your inevitable overflow be ever glorifying to you. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

S2G Devotional- “Praying in the Spirit”

Luke 11:11 “Which of you fathers, if your son asks for a fish, will give him a snake instead? 12 Or if he asks for an egg, will give him a scorpion? 13 If you then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!”

God desires a relationship with His children. Prayer is a way we can commune with our Heavenly Father, through the Holy Spirit. He doesn’t need a polished prayer. Instead, he invites us to simply abide in Him.

As we abide in prayer, God changes and transforms us. We go from desiring things of the world, to desiring God Himself— our true Peace, Rest, Hope, and Joy. And we can be 100% confident that He will answer when we ask, seek and knock for the Holy Spirit!

Heavenly Father, thank you for breathing your Holy Spirit— the same Holy Spirit that raised Jesus from the dead— in me. Today, I surrender my weaknesses and my strengths in exchange for more of you. Fill me with your Spirit to help me to trust and declare “Not my will, but yours be done.”

“Turning around, Jesus saw them (Andrew and another) following and asked, “What do you want?” They said, “Rabbi” (which means “Teacher”), “where are you staying?” “Come,” he replied, “and you will see.” So they went and saw where he was staying, and they spent that day with him. It was about four in the afternoon.”
John 1:38-39

Andrew was introduced by John and was invited by the living God Himself to stay with Him. Jesus made His dwelling place Andrew’s dwelling place. This is a perfect picture of salvation! God repented Andrew by faith through grace. After this encounter, Andrew, who might have always been an introducer, became on fire with true purpose to introduce and invite the lost to the one true Way and Life. Jesus is the ultimate introducer and inviter. He is our salvation and confidence. And He leads us to point the lost to Him saying 👉 “Go, and you will see.”

Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.

28 “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”

WHY DO WE NEED TO BE BORN AGAIN?

OUR FIRST BIRTH
The Bible tells us that God is the true source of life (Gen. 2:7) and He created man to be dependent creatures, to live under His rule and reign.
But when Adam and Eve, deceived by satan, decided to rebel against God by eating from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, God’s life left them and sin and death came into the world.

12 Therefore, just as sin came into the world through one man, and death through sin, and so death spread to all men because all sinned
Romans 5:12

SPIRITUALLY DEAD
As a result of this rebellion, we are born sinners - physically alive, but spiritually dead because we are separated from God who is the true source of life.

This means that:
We live under satan’s rule instead of God’s rule.
Our entire nature is sinful.
All we can produce is sin.
We are by nature deserving of wrath.
We are under judgement and headed for eternal separation from God, which is hell.

WHAT DOES THIS SPIRITUALLY DEAD LIFE LOOK LIKE?
We are restless and desperate.
We look to the world to find our purpose, significance and meaning.
We live for our glory.
We decide for ourselves what is good and evil. Have you noticed that everyone has a different definition of good and evil?
This is why the world is full of strife, conflict, pain and sorrow.

WE ARE DEAD AND IN NEED OF TRUE LIFE

This is why we need to be born again.

But as dead sinners, there is nothing we can do to change our condition.

WE NEED A SAVIOR

6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
John 14:6

JESUS
God sent His one and only Son Jesus into this world to save us from sin, death, satan and eternal separation.

Jesus is the true life that we need, and the only way we can be born again.

Jesus bore our sin on the cross. The wrath that was meant for us, was poured out on Him and He died the death we deserved. On the third day, He rose again and defeated death once and for all.

We are born again when we believe in Jesus and what He has done for us.

Will you place your trust in Jesus to be born again as a child of God?

The fundamental problem of man is not about human imperfection and the need to act better or be good. Our problem is that without the life of God in us, we are spiritually dead people, alive for a short time and in danger of facing eternity separated from God. Jesus is the only one who can give us the spiritual life we sinners desperately need and to reconcile us with our Creator.
“Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life. He does not come into judgment, but has passed from death to life.” - John 5:24

Why is Jesus the Only Way? (to Salvation)

1 Timothy 2:5
For there is one God, and there is one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus.

There are over 10,000 religions worldwide. Religion is based on human effort, with the goal of reaching salvation or enlightenment.

There are over 10,000 religions worldwide.
Every religion is humanity’s attempt to climb up to God by following the laws, being moral, and gaining enlightenment. But the Bible shows we can’t climb high enough.

Whether through moral living, meditation, devotion, or religious activities, every religion will say “Do this, and you may reach God and salvation.”

The Bible not only exposes man’s complete inability to do anything to save himself, it states that man is spiritually dead without God.

Dead people cannot do anything, let alone work to earn salvation.

Every religion says “I’ll show you a way.” But Jesus says “I AM the Way.” He is not a guide to life, He gives life to the spiritually dead.

God made the only way through Jesus’ death on the cross for our sins and His resurrection to give us new life. We don’t reach God by doing things. Jesus came down from Heaven to give us life.

Acts 4:12
Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved.

Would you call Jesus to be your only way for salvation?

What is the Gospel? The Gospel means “good news.”

But what is the good news? To understand the good news, we must first begin with the bad news.

After Adam and Eve ate from the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil in the Garden of Eden, sin infected man. As a result, death spread to all of mankind, humanity became enslaved to the law, and lived under Satan’s rule and reign.

Therefore, just as sin came into the world through one man, and death through sin, and so death spread to all men because all sinned
(Romans 5:12)

Nevertheless, God sent His son Jesus to be the savior for all mankind. Through His death, burial, and resurrection, Christ paid the full debt for all our sins (past, present, and future), released us from the law, rescued us from Satan’s rule, and defeated death on the cross.

18 Therefore, as one trespass led to condemnation for all men, so one act of righteousness leads to justification and life for all men. 19 For as by the one man’s disobedience the many were made sinners, so by the one man’s obedience the many will be made righteous.
(Romans 5:18-19)

Now, all who are called to believe are given a new birth, a new identity in Christ Jesus as a child of God. This is the good news. Through this new identity, we are brought into the Kingdom of God.

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!
(2 Corinthians 5:17)

Do you believe that you have been given a new birth and identity through Jesus the Savior?
