With heavy hearts, ReconcilingWorks mourns the passing of the Rev. Derek Terry, Executive Director of the UCC Coalition, who died Sunday morning.

Derek was a beloved colleague, gifted leader, and treasured partner in the shared work of building a Church that more fully reflects God’s justice, compassion, and expansive love.

It was a true joy and delight to work alongside Derek as one of ReconcilingWorks’ ecumenical partners. We are deeply grateful for the wisdom, leadership, compassion, and care he so generously shared.

Derek understood that the work of justice is deeply relational. Through their ministry and leadership, he invited the Church to become more courageous in its welcome, more faithful in its pursuit of justice, and more loving in its care for one another.

Derek's presence made our shared work richer. His wisdom strengthened us. His compassion reminded us why this ministry matters.

Today, we give thanks to God for Derek’s life, his ministry, and the countless ways they witness helped make the Church and the world more just and loving.

We hold in prayer Derek’s family and loved ones, the UCC Coalition community, his colleagues and friends, and all who are mourning this profound loss.

May all who grieve be surrounded by tenderness and care.

May Derek’s life and ministry continue to inspire us in the work ahead.

And may we trust that this beloved child of God is held forever in God’s abundant and unending love.

Rest in peace and power, Rev. Derek Terry.

Today, on Non-Binary People’s Day, we celebrate the beautiful diversity of God's beloved creation.

We give thanks for every non-binary person whose life, gifts, wisdom, courage, and joy reflect the limitless creativity of God. You are a living expression of God’s love.

At ReconcilingWorks, we believe that every person is created in the image of God and called beloved. Together, we celebrate a world beyond limiting binaries, where each person's authentic identity is honored with dignity, respect, and love.

To our non-binary siblings: We see you. We celebrate you. We give thanks for you. You belong.

May our churches continue to grow into communities where every person can live fully, love freely, and flourish as God created them to be.

At ReconcilingWorks, we believe that the flourishing of q***r people and the fullness of the LGBTQIA+ community are gifts to the Church and to the world. Every person is created in the image of God, and together we reflect the breathtaking creativity, beauty, and abundance of God's creation.

Our diversity is not a problem to be solved—it is a sacred reality to be celebrated. The many expressions of sexual orientation, gender identity, and gender expression reveal a God whose imagination cannot be confined by binaries, limited by patriarchy, or diminished by systems of white supremacy. When we embrace the full spectrum of who God has created us to be, we move closer to God's vision of beloved community.

The flourishing of LGBTQIA+ people is more than welcome. It is about belonging, celebration, leadership, justice, and the freedom to live authentically without fear. It is about communities where every person can share their gifts, tell their story, and participate fully in the life of the Church.

We know that the work of dismantling patriarchy, white supremacy, and other systems of oppression is deeply connected to the work of LGBTQIA+ liberation. As followers of Christ, we are called to build communities where every person's dignity is honored and where love is made visible through courageous welcome, compassionate action, and persistent advocacy.

This is not simply inclusion. It is the flourishing of God's people. It is the unfolding of God's abundant love. And it is a glimpse of the kin-dom of God—a community where all are celebrated, all are valued, and all are invited to live fully into the people God created them to be.
