While mowing and trimming today, we noticed that the most recent storms have affected the big oak tree at the front corner of the cemetery. It needs to come down. We are in the process of contacting a tree service for removal. For those of you that don’t know, our family takes care of the cemetery by donating our time. Several very generous family members of decedents have given money to help purchase fuel and equipment necessary for the upkeep. Should the tree fall, it would damage many graves. We are humbly asking for any donations to cover the cost of the removal of the tree. If you are able to contribute, please contact Jeff or Susan at 704-221-8683 or 704-221-8424. Thank you!

In honor of Mother’s Day, we’d like you to post about a wonderful mother that you know that is buried here. Just add a picture in the comments!! I’ll start!! My grandmother, Anna Mae Hartis Price Flowe is buried here. She was an amazing mother and Maw Maw! She had six children, ten grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, and 3 great great grandchildren. She taught me to love EVERYBODY no matter their circumstance. She was a lover of harmony and taught all of us to sing. She loved the Lord and shared her walk with us. She always made every one of us feel like we were the most important person on this earth. She loved, loved, loved babies. We always felt safe and content when Maw Maw was in our presence. She was such an amazing grandmother and I’m so proud to tell people that she was mine!! Thank you all for the prayers! Jeff is back on his feet and able to take care of the hard stuff at the cemetery! Another big thank you to our oldest son, Jesse Furr who helped trim while his daddy was sick. Lastly, a big thank you to the wonderful couple (and family 😉) that sent a check in the mail. Jeff was able to purchase some much-needed w**d killer for the cemetery. We hope you all have a wonderful Mother’s Day weekend and for those that will be visiting mothers at Lucy Helms, you’ll be in our prayers.
