St. Martha's Folk Group

Save the date: Saturday, April 11th, 2026.
We are in the planning stages of another Folk Group reunion! The reunion will begin with Mass at 10 am at St. Martha’s followed by lunch in the church basement. The menu and cost will be determined at a later date. We will, of course, provide the music for the Mass. Copies of the music will be distributed to instrumentalists at least a couple months prior to April 11th.

We are collecting email addresses of anyone interested in attending, former Folk Group members, family members, people who assisted at concerts, parishioners, all are welcome to attend. Please send your name and email address to [email protected] to get on the email list for updates as plans develop. Help spread the word, send this message to anyone you think may be interested.

Steve Oury’s dad passed away. He is requesting that we put a group together for the funeral on Wednesday at 11 am at St Martha’s. I can be there with my guitar. Anyone else able to do it?

Memorial Services for my brother, Michael Butch Santa Pope are as follows:
💜The visitation wake service will be on this coming, Sunday, October 27, 5-8 pm at Hartnett Funeral Home, 561 Jerusalem Ave, Uniondale, NY. Flowers 💐 and Mass cards can be sent or brought there. It would be ok if you’d like to wear red and white to funeral home to honor Santa but Not to church next day. Also, any photos or videos can be bought to view on their tv if you have plug to connect it.

⛪️The funeral mass will be held on Monday, October 28, at 11:00 am at our old home church, ⛪️St Martha’s RC Church, 546 Greengrove Ave (behind Hartnett), Uniondale, NY.
Committal, burial will be after mass (over an hour drive) at Calverton National Cemetery out east. (1 ish)
**💜We are still in need of more pallbearers at the church and cemetery, we have 2 so far, thank you Billy and Terry and 2 from funeral home to guide you but we need maybe 4 more strong men please and thank you. 🙏🏻

It is with a heavy heart that I share the passing of Michael Pope. He died unexpectedly in his sleep. He was one of the kindest people on this earth. He never missed a Folk Group reunion despite not having a car. He brought joy to children(and adults) as Santa and the Easter Bunny and was a good and loyal friend to many. I recommend reading the tributes to his life on his page. They are inspiring. May his life be an example to all of us on the importance of kindness, living in simplicity and being present. May he rest in peace. Prayers and condolences to his family and friends

St Martha's is celebrating their 75th Anniversary this year. There are a few festivities planned which we would love current and former parishioners to attend.

75th Anniversary Mass - Saturday September 21, 2024 5pm with special homilist Msgr Frank J Caldwell. Reception to follow - RSVP required. Sister Elizabeth Myles will also be in attendance.

75th Anniversary Dinner Dance - Sunday October 6, 2024 4:30-9:00pm at the Plattdeutsche Restaurant in Franklin Square. Tickets can be bought on our website at:

We are also preparing a commemorative journal. If anyone would like to purchase space in the journal I have attached the form.

In NY to watch the kids, so my mom and I were able to visit my Dad and Noreen on his 32nd anniversary! So much has changed for our family since May 21, 1992. Our lives were never the same since then! Both of them are missed so much! ❤️
