Grace Family Church Grace Family Church in Union, Missouri. The Bible is our infallible guide in matters about conduct and doctrine. (II Timothy 3:16; 1 Thess. 2:13; II Peter 1:21).

GRACE FAMILY CHURCH TENENTS OF FAITH AND DOCTRINE

WE BELIEVE... THE SCRIPTURES - The Bible is the Word of God, the product of holy men of old who spoke and rote as they were moved by the Holy Spirit. WE BELIEVE... THE GODHEAD - Our God is one, but manifested in three persons - the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, being co-equal. (Phil. 2:6). God the Father is greater than all and is the Word

(Logos) (John 1:1). The Son, Jesus, the Word manifested in the flesh, who existed with the Father from the beginning (John 1:1; John 1:14; John 1:18). He was born of the virgin Mary, lived a sinless life, was crucified, died, and was buried, and was raised to new life and is now seated at the right hand of God the Father (I Cor. 15:3-4; Eph. 1:20). The Holy Spirit proceeds forth from both the Father and the Son and is eternal (John 15:26). WE BELIEVE... MAN, HIS FALL, AND REDEMPTION - Man is a created being, made in the likeness and image of God, but through the transgression of Adam, sin came into the world. "All have sinned and come short of the glory of God." As it is written, "There is none righteous, no, not one." Jesus Christ was manifested to undo the work of the devil. He gave His life and shed His blood to redeem and restore man to God. (Rom. 5:14; Rom. 3:10; Rom 3:23; I John 3:8). WE BELIEVE... ETERNAL LIFE AND THE NEW BIRTH - Man's first step toward salvation is godly sorrow that worketh repentance. The New Birth is necessary to all men, and when fulfilled produces eternal life. (II Cor. 7:10; John 3:3-5; I John 5:12). WE BELIEVE... WATER BAPTISM - Baptism in water is by immersion and is a direct commandment of the Lord and is for believers only. This identifies the believer with Christ in His death, burial, and resurrection. (Matt. 28:19; Rom. 6:4; Col. 2:12; Acts 10:48). WE BELIEVE... BAPTISM IN THE HOLY SPIRIT - The baptism in the Holy Spirit and fire is a gift from God as promised by the Lord Jesus Christ to all believers and is received after the New Birth. The experience is accompanied by the initial evidence of speaking in other tongues as the Holy Spirit gives utterance. (Acts 2:4; Acts 2:38-39; Acts 1:8; Matt. 3:11; John 14: 16-17). WE BELIEVE... LORD'S SUPPER - Partaking the elements, the cup and the bread, represent the blood and the body of the Lord Jesus Christ and provide for forgiveness and healing of the body (I Cor. 11: 23-25). WE BELIEVE... SANCTIFICATION - The Bible teaches that without holiness no man can see the Lord. We believe in the Doctrine of Sanctification as a definite, yet progressive work of grace, starting at the time of regeneration and continuing until we see Him face to face. (Heb. 12:14; I Peter 1:14-16; I Thess. 5:23; I Cor. 1:30). WE BELIEVE... DIVINE HEALING - Healing is for the physical ills of the human body and is wrought by the power of God through the prayer of faith, and by the laying on of hands. It is provided for in the atonement of Christ and is the privilege of every member of the Church today. (Isaiah 53:4-5; James 5:14-25; Mark 16:18; Matt. 8:17). WE BELIEVE... RESURRECTION OF THE JUST AND THE RETURN OF THE LORD - That Jesus shall return in the same manner in which He left and His coming is imminent. The dead in Christ shall rise first and then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up with them. Following the tribulation, He shall return to the earth as King of kings and Lord of lords; and with His saints shall reign on the earth for a thousand years. (Acts 1:11; I Thess. 4:16-17; Rev. 20:6). WE BELIEVE... HELL AND ETERNAL JUDGEMENT - The one who physically dies without Christ is hopelessly and eternally lost in the Lake of Fire and, therefore, lacks further opportunity to hear Gospel or repent. The Lake of Fire is literal (Heb. 9:27; Rev. 19:20).

Peter 1
PETER, AN apostle (a special messenger) of Jesus Christ, [writing] to the elect exiles of the dispersion scattered (sowed) abroad in Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia, and Bithynia,
Who were chosen and foreknown by God the Father and consecrated (sanctified, made holy) by the Spirit to be obedient to Jesus Christ (the Messiah) and to be sprinkled with [His] blood: May grace (spiritual blessing) and peace be given you in increasing abundance [that spiritual peace to berealized in and through Christ, freedom from fears, agitating passions, and moral conflicts].
Praised (honored, blessed) be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ (the Messiah)! By His boundless mercy we have been born again to an ever-living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,
[Born anew] into an inheritance which is beyond the reach of change and decay [imperishable], unsullied and unfading, reserved in heaven for you,
Who are being guarded (garrisoned) by God’s power through [your] faith [till you fully inherit thatfinal] salvation that is ready to be revealed [for you] in the last time.
[You should] be exceedingly glad on this account, though now for a little while you may be distressed by trials and suffer temptations,
So that [the genuineness] of your faith may be tested, [your faith] which is infinitely more precious than the perishable gold which is tested and purified by fire. [This proving of your faith is intended] to redound to [your] praise and glory and honor when Jesus Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed One) is revealed.
Without having seen Him, you love Him; though you do not [even] now see Him, you believe in Him and exult and thrill with inexpressible and glorious (triumphant, heavenly) joy.
[At the same time] you receive the result (outcome, consummation) of your faith, the salvation of your souls.
The prophets, who prophesied of the grace (divine blessing) which was intended for you, searched and inquired earnestly about this salvation.
They sought [to find out] to whom or when this was to come which the Spirit of Christ working within them was indicating when He predicted the sufferings of Christ and the glories that should follow [them].
It was then disclosed to them that the services they were rendering were not meant for themselves and their period of time, but for you. [It is these very] things which have now already been made known plainly to you by those who preached the good news (the Gospel) to you by the [same] Holy Spirit sent from heaven. Into these things [the very] angels long to look!
So brace up your minds; be sober (circumspect, morally alert); set your hope wholly and unchangeably on the grace (divine favor) that is coming to you when Jesus Christ (the Messiah) is revealed.
[Live] as children of obedience [to God]; do not conform yourselves to the evil desires [that governed you] in your former ignorance [when you did not know the requirements of the Gospel].
But as the One Who called you is holy, you yourselves also be holy in all your conduct and manner of living.
For it is written, You shall be holy, for I am holy.
And if you call upon Him as [your] Father Who judges each one impartially according to what he does, [then] you should conduct yourselves with true reverence throughout the time of your temporary residence [on the earth, whether long or short].
You must know (recognize) that you were redeemed (ransomed) from the useless (fruitless) way of living inherited by tradition from [your] forefathers, not with corruptible things [such as] silver and gold,
But [you were purchased] with the precious blood of Christ (the Messiah), like that of a [sacrificial] lamb without blemish or spot.
It is true that He was chosen and foreordained (destined and foreknown for it) before the foundation of the world, but He was brought out to public view (made manifest) in these last days (at the end of the times) for the sake of you.
Through Him you believe in (adhere to, rely on) God, Who raised Him up from the dead and gave Him honor and glory, so that your faith and hope are [centered and rest] in God.
Since by your obedience to the Truth through the [Holy] Spirit you have purified your hearts for the sincere affection of the brethren, [see that you] love one another fervently from a pure heart.
You have been regenerated (born again), not from a mortalorigin (seed, s***m), but from one that is immortal by the ever living and lasting Word of God.
For all flesh (mankind) is like grass, and all its glory (honor) like [the] flower of grass. The grass withers and the flower drops off,
But the Word of the Lord (divine instruction, the Gospel) endures forever. And this Word is the good news which was preached to you.
