We are currently in our summer schedule. No Wednesday night activities.

With Jesus Christ as the basis of our belief and strength, we want to express our love for God through worshiping Him, through enjoying the family of God, through telling the world about Jesus, though loving all people, through teaching God’s word in order to obey everything He has commanded.

What if Jesus returned sooner than you expected? Not someday in the distant future. Not after you finally get everything together.
Not after you become the person you keep planning to become.

What if He came...RIGHT NOW!

Jesus said no one knows the day or the hour. That is not an invitation to speculate. It is a warning to wake up.

This Sunday, we finish Mark 13 with one of Jesus’ clearest teachings about His return.

Creation will shake.
Christ will come.
His people will be gathered.
His Word will stand.
And His command is unmistakable:

STAY AWAKE!!!

Since Christ will return at a time we do not have, we must live for Him with the time we have.

Join us this Sunday at First Baptist Church Union.

John Mayer didn't know it, but when he wrote his song "My Stupid Mouth", he was echoing much of what James warns us about.

He sings, "My stupid mouth has got me in trouble. I said too much again."

A tiny spark can cause a lot of damage, can't it? A tiny spark can set a forest on fire, much like a few careless words can do unspeakable damage. It can destroy friendships, family, your witness, and even a local church.

What does what you say reveal about your faith?
James frames it around the tongue, but today he might mention not only our tongue, but our thumbs. Our keyboards. Our social media interactions.

James says our words are far more than harmless sounds. They can guide, wound, divide, encourage, destroy, and reveal what is really happening in the heart.

Tonight in our adult Bible study, we’ll walk through James 3:1–12 and consider why Scripture places such enormous importance on the way Christians speak.

Can we bless God and tear down people made in His image with the same mouth? James says, “My brothers, these things ought not to be so.”

Join us tonight as we talk about The Tongue: What Your Words Reveal About Your Faith. We'll see you tonight at 6pm in the Sanctuary.

A HUGE THANK YOU goes out to your nursery workers. We had a ton of babies Sunday...and sometimes serving Jesus looks like rocking babies. Thank you.

What are you training our heart to trust?
Your experiences?
Your emotions?

Jesus said that in the last days there will be false christs and false prophets that will perform signs and wonders with one purpose...to "lead astray, if possible, the elect."

What about those in your life...or on your social media feed that are claiming to speak for God? They are claiming some revelation...some knowledge or spiritual insight. Are you trusting them?

Jesus said to not believe every voice in your life. Some will say, "Look, here is the Christ!" or "Look, there he is!"
Jesus said, "Don't believe it."

So what are you training your heart to trust? How can you obey Christ and "be on guard" as he told us to?

I'm glad you asked.
This Sunday we continue our study of Mark 13 as we look at The End Times According to Jesus.

We will talk about the Antichrist, the coming tribulation, the sovereignty of God in the middle of it all, and perhaps most importantly, how you can guard yourself from being led astray.

Jesus has warned us beforehand.

Be on guard.

Join us Sunday at FBC Union. 8:30am or 11am.
