Yesterday, we showed you some of the work happening behind the scenes.

Today, we want to show you why we keep working.

These are more than photographs from Africa. These are people we know, communities we love, and relationships God has allowed us to build.

We are not trying to reach a place we have never been. We are working to return to people who are already waiting for us.

Every long day, every fundraiser, and every sacrifice has a purpose.

This is why we are working.
This is why we are trusting God.
This is why we are willing to go.

“And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.”
Galatians 6:9

Life does not pause while a family is separated.

Birthdays come.

Children grow.

Ordinary days pass and become memories.

From here, I am doing everything I can to prepare for the day when I can return to Jainaba and Jethro. But returning is not only about bringing our family back together.

It is also about returning to the people, communities, and ministry God has placed in our hearts.

My family is there.

Our calling is there.

A part of my heart is there.

Until the distance is closed, I will keep working, praying, and trusting God to make a way.

Would you pray with us?

Would you share our story so it can reach someone else?

And if God places it on your heart to help send us, you can follow our progress and give at:

I may not have been there from the beginning of his life, but I pray that God allows me to be there for everything still ahead of him.

Jethro is my stepson, and we have only recently begun building our relationship. We are still learning one another, creating memories, and growing closer as a family.

But I care about him deeply.

He may be my stepson by title, but in my heart, he is my son.

That is what makes this distance so difficult. We are separated during a time when we should be together, strengthening the bond we have only just begun to build.

I do not want to watch him grow through photographs and phone calls. I want to be present, guide him, encourage him, and become the father God has called me to be.

Please pray that our family will soon be together again.

A phone screen lets me see their faces.

It lets me hear their voices and tell them that I love them.

But it cannot replace sitting beside my wife.

It cannot replace being there for my son.

It cannot replace the meals, conversations, laughter, and ordinary moments that make a family a family.

When the call ends, the screen goes dark, and the distance is still there.

I know God has called us to serve in West Africa, but before we are missionaries, we are also a family that desperately wants to be together again.

We began this journey needing $17,500. Because people have prayed, given, and stood beside us, only $14,000 remains.

That number represents more than expenses.

It represents the distance between where I am and where my family and calling are waiting.

Two of the greatest parts of my heart are thousands of miles away.

This is my wife, Jainaba, and our son, Jethro.

While I am here working and doing everything I can to return, they are waiting for me in West Africa.

Some distances are measured in miles.

Others are measured in the moments a family cannot get back.

Please keep our family in your prayers today

This is about more than reaching a number.

My wife, Jainaba, and our son, Jethro, are already in West Africa. Every day that passes is another day our family is separated and another day I am away from the mission field God has called us to serve together.

We began needing $17,500 to cover my flight and six months of ministry and living expenses. Because people have prayed, given, and stood beside us, that need has now dropped to $14,000.

That is real progress, and we are deeply thankful. But we still have a distance to go.

I am doing everything I can here while trusting God to make a way for me to return to my family and for us to get back into the mission field together.

If God places Brown Family Missions on your heart, would you please pray for us, share our story, or consider helping send us?

Every prayer matters.
Every share matters.
Every gift brings us one step closer.

Today is Labor Day, a day that recognizes the value of hard work.

For Brown Family Missions, the work does not stop. Whether we are working here at home, serving in West Africa, or doing everything possible to return to the mission field, every long day and every sacrifice has a purpose.

We are working to reunite our family.
We are working to return to the mission field.
We are working so more people can hear the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

We are willing to go. Will you help send us?

Before we ask for anything today, we ask you to pray.

Pray for the people of West Africa. Pray for the work God has called us to. Pray that every need is met and every door is opened for me to return to the mission field.

“Here am I; send me.” Isaiah 6:8
