Maternal Instinct…

Where does instinct come from? In Job 38:36, the Lord challenges Job by asking, “Who gives intuition to the heart and instinct to the mind?” He is clearly asking a rhetorical question here because God is.

Whether you are a biological mother, adoptive mother, or friends of others who have children…that mothers instinct sets in when you see a baby/child staring back at you. Then they smile…and for some reason…you smile back. Maybe even talk to them, try to make them laugh; play with them.

We all were once children, and are still children of the risen King. As we go throughout this Mother’s Day week, cherish the smiles of those around you, share kind words of encouragement, and brighten the day of others that may keep to themselves. Everyone is going through or has been through something.

Past, Present or Future…

Which do you live in?
Technically, we all live in the here and now, but in your mind? Do you dwell in the past, dream about the future, or live each moment as if it were the true gift and blessing that it is?

So many instances have occurred, just this week, within 2-3 degrees of me that have me pondering. “Am I taking each breath, each moment, action, step, direction, and day as it is a God given mission to live out?”

“Do you have the gift of speaking? Then speak as though God himself were speaking through you. Do you have the gift of helping others? Do it with all the strength and energy that God supplies. Then everything you do will bring glory to God through Jesus Christ. All glory and power to him forever and ever! Amen.”
-1 Peter 4:11

Purpose…Forgiveness…Grace…Jesus?

YES, NO, MAYBE?! Waking up with your heart bursting with gratitude may seem impossible. Your life might be in a rough patch. Even with Jesus, life has fires we have to walk through!

But no matter your circumstance, the Lord has blessed you with air in your lungs, a new day before you, and the opportunity to fulfill your God given purpose. Because you have a purpose!

Start each day with a grateful heart, knowing that you are loved and worthy, and be filled by the holy spirit. Jesus is alive!

We live in a world that often treats truth like it is flexible, something to be shaped by opinion, influenced by feelings, or redefined by the times. We hear phrases like “my truth” and “your truth,” as if truth were something we can each customize. But deep down, every honest heart knows that truth can’t be manufactured. Truth must be discovered. Truth must be constant. Truth must stand whether we agree with it or not. Over the next few weeks, we’ll explore this simple but profound subject: Truth. Tenebrae is a traditional Holy Week service that invites the faithful to reflect on the Passion and death of Jesus through Scripture readings and the gradual extinguishing of candles as the church grows dark. Rooted in early medieval tradition, the service takes its name from the Latin word for “darkness” and concludes with the church in near darkness and silence, recalling the moment of Christ’s death. Please join us at 7PM this evening for this beautiful and moving service.
