Sophia is making progress. Over the past few days she seems to recognize when she has to eliminate. Showering is still difficult because the bathroom is too small. They (contractor through Voices for Independence) put a wider door on the bathroom but it's useless because when the wheelchair rolls in it's touching the wall, the tub, the commode and the door, all at the same time. We've had to roll her in, get the walker set up, and get her to the shower bench. Someone has to be inside by the tub to assist while the other handles the chair. Where there's a will, there's a way.
Yesterday she stood up out of the wheelchair by herself and let go of the table to show off. It was quite a trick but we had to tell her not to do that sort of thing again unless someone is watching/assisting. Shriners has her do home exercises aimed at strengthening her core muscles which in turn will strengthen her diaphragm muscles.
