Messiah Lutheran Church

Messiah Lutheran Church Messiah is a Christ centered Lutheran Church located in rural Underwood, Minnesota.

The Apostle Paul wrote, “For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God, not by works.” (Ephesians 2: 8-9)
We at Messiah Lutheran Church believe these words to be true. We believe that God initiated our faith by showing us his love, that while we were still sinners Christ died for us (Romans 5:8). We believe that Jesus Christ accomplished

our Salvation when he was crucified on a cross, by sacrificing Himself for the forgiveness of our sins. For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him (John 3:16-17). And we believe that the Holy Spirit empowers us to love our neighbors and share the great news of Jesus Christ with all the earth (Acts 1:8).

Pastor Brent’s wife, Kari, was diagnosed with uterine cancer and will take an important step in this journey as she has surgery next week. There are several ways we all can come alongside and support the Andrews Family in the days and weeks ahead. Check out their “Give in Kind” page — sign up, give or help if you can!! And pray, bringing them before the One Who holds it all. May the Lord use all of us to help, encourage, serve and support.

As many of you know, Kari was diagnosed with uterine cancer in May. This will require a complete hysterectomy which will take place at the Sanford Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD on Tuesday, June 23, which we pray completely removes the cancer. What wonderful service today! In honor of Mothers Day, all moms were asked to stand, and a prayer was said over them, for all they do each and every day. We also recognized our 7 graduating seniors today as they soon begin a new and exciting chapter in their lives. They received quilts lovingly made by some of our amazing quilters, along with a printed Bible verse and a Gideans Bible. And after our children sang for us, they presented a flower to all the mothers in attendance. We received food for our souls from the scriptures, and Pastor Mike's always enlightening and instructive sermon. What many blessings bestowed on us!

Saying goodbye can be difficult, but finishing strong is so important.

Last night our youth read multiple benedictions (found in scripture) over Pastor Josh Mah and then laid hands on him and prayed over him.

Josh you are loved and appreciate. Thank you for ministering to us and we look forward to seeing how the Lord will continue to work in and through you as you move throughout His mission field.
