We are here at the North Area Florida Pathfinder Camporee. The conference shared some pictures from Thursday when everyone was setting up, and what do you know. There is our bus! 🚌 💙

Yesterday was the 2025 Pathfinder Bible Experience (PBE) Area Runoff. PBE is a trivia contest where the Pathfinders are quized on predetermined books of the Bible. This year, it was the whole book of Romans and 1 Corinthians. 📖

We had 8 PBE Team members (split into two teams on the field), 2 other Pathfinders as support, and 3 Adventurers attending today from Umatilla. 👥️👤👥️

Both of our teams WON the participation placement!!! 🏆

Most important of all, some of our Pathfinders are choosing to follow Jesus and to publicly announce their decision through baptism. Two of our PBE Team members were baptized in January and others are currently in baptismal Bible studies. We are assured that God will bring to mind the what they had studied will continue to bring them hope as promised. 🙏

It's time for eye spy!

Umatilla Pathfinder Club is in the North Area of the Florida Conference (color is yellow). We had our North Area Council Meeting today by the Florida Conference and three of our staff members attended. Can you find them all? Say I found them when you do. ♡

We are so thankful for our staff and are excited to spend some time with other Pathfinder leaders from our Area. We will see you all soon camping. ⛺️

It's the 180th Anniversary!

On this day in October 22, 1844, thousands of people waited, earnestly expecting Jesus to return to earth to take the saved to heaven in what is known as the 2nd Coming or 2nd Advent of Christ (the 1st Advent being when Jesus came as a baby). These "Millerites" or "Adventists" studied the prophesies in Daniel and Revelation and clung to the Bible promises such as:

"Unto two thousand and three hundred days; then shall the sanctuary be cleansed" (Daniel 8:14 KJV).

And...

"For the Lord Himself shall descend from Heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet of God; and the dead in Christ shall rise first;" (1 Thessalonians 4:16 KJV).

They sold their land and gave up their jobs and did all they could for the world to know that Jesus was going to return on that Tuesday. And at that point, there was nothing to do but wait. They sat outside in groups and waited.

But the heavens did not roll up like a scroll (Revelation 6:14), Jesus did not show up, and instead there was a Great Disappointment. There were smaller disappointments before, from when there was the calculation error thinking it was 1843 while forgetting that there is no year 0 with the switch between BC to AD and then again in the spring of 1844, but everyone was fully confident that the error wasn't in the calculation. The question is what had gone wrong?

Out of the Great Disappointment, many left the faith entirely. The believers were ridiculed by many. However, there was a group that came to believe that it was the right date, but the wrong event.

Through further Bible study and vision confirmation with Hiram Edson, the small group of believers rejoiced in the hope that Jesus entered as our High Priest into the Most Holy Place in the Heavenly Sanctuary and begun the Day of Attonement. So the cleansing of the sanctuary wasn't the earth but instead the sins from the records from within the heavenly Sanctuary. Once this work in heaven is completed, then probation for all would be over and Jesus would take off His Priestly robes and put on His Kingly robes and return with the whole host of heaven.

It is from this small remnant of Adventists that eventually grew and formed the Seventh-day Adventist Church later in 1863.

You can read about the Disappointment by someone who lived through the experience herself. Ellen White wrote a book called the Great Controversy starting with William Miller's own life story in Chapter 18.

The Umatilla Seventh-day Adventist Church is hosting an evangelistic series called Prophecy Odyssey. This is a study seminar focusing on Bible Prophecy.

Our Pathfinders will be helping out and would love to see you there! If you come, we believe you will be blessed, for the Bible promises so:

Everyone made it home! (And all of the gear too).

Though camping affords a wonderful adventure, being home offers a comfort that is only surpassed by the assurance of God.

"And my people shall dwell in a peaceable habitation, and in sure dwellings, and in quiet resting places;" - Isaiah 32:18 KJV

Now that we are home and mostly recovered, we are gearing up for the rest of the 2024-2025 Pathfinder Club year!!! There are exciting things ahead of us.

Day 6
Our Pathfinders woke up, and enjoyed their short bus ride to the Denver Airport this morning, where they caught their flight back to Orlando. They have safely touched down and and reuniting with their families.

It is a wonderful feeling of coming home after being away and separated from those we love. Some day, separation will end.

In Revelation 21:1 KJV, John the Revelator and Apostle and Beloved wrote, "And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea." The no more sea part is especially important as when he penned the words of Revelation, he was writing a letter to the churches he was separated from as he was imprisoned in exile on the Island of Patmos.

Similarly, John relished being able to see everyone face to face.
"But I trust I shall shortly see thee, and we shall speak face to face. Peace be to thee. Our friends salute thee. Greet the friends by name." - 3 John 1:14 KJV

"Having many things to write unto you, I would not write with paper and ink: but I trust to come unto you, and speak face to face, that our joy may be full." - 2 John 1:12 KJV

Paul similarly echos this same sentiment when he wrote about the key of being able to be with God.

"For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known." - 1 Corinthians 13:12 KJV

Paul, in 2 Corinthians 3, also compares the difference of when Moses had to veil his face after spending so much time with God when he then went to interact with the children of Israel versus what we all cna have the privilege of doing in the future:
"But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord." - 2 Corinthians 3:18 KJV
