If some of you are not aware of it… The ten days starting with Rosh Hashanah and ending with Yom Kippur are commonly known in Judaism as the Days of Awe (Yamim Noraim) or the Days of Repentance. This is a time for serious introspection, a time to consider the sins of the previous year and repent before Yom Kippur.…
The concept of the Days of Awe is that God has "books" that he writes our names in, writing down who will live and who will die, who will have a good life and who will have a bad life, for the next year. This is why the Jewish people greet each other with “Shana Tovah!”on Rosh Ha Shanah! It is a kind of equivalent of “Happy New Year”, but means SO MUCH MORE!! It’s a statement that their desire for you in the coming year is “a sweet LIFE" - a healthy and prosperous year from HaShem (God)”!!
So… how does this pertain to a Believer in Yeshua? We believe that when we give our lives to Yeshua and are “born again” or “born from above” (turning from OUR ways, heading toward HIS ways), that our names ARE ALREADY written in The Lamb’s Book of Life. So… if THAT’S the case… why should we care about this time period called “The Ten Days of Awe”?
I, personally, do not believe in “Once saved... Always saved”. I DON'T believe your "salvation" or "new birth" experience can be TAKEN from you... but I DO believe we can "give it up"... WE can decide to walk away... forfeiting what we've been given!
There isn’t time to go into this subject here, but I DO believe it is possible to forfeit your salvation! God is SO LOVING and HIS MERCY ENDURES FOREVER… BUT… WE can turn from HIM… it’s OUR decision to walk away! But having said that, I believe He STILL does everything He can to get us back, even if WE walk away!!
BUT... WE CHOOSE!! HE wants us to choose LIFE!!! “…Oh, that you would choose life; that you and your children might live!” (Deuteronomy 30:19 TLB)
According to Hebrews 10:26 (Phillip’s Trans)… “Now if we sin deliberately after we have known and accepted the truth, there can be no further sacrifice for sin for us but only a terrifying expectation of judgment and the fire of God’s indignation, which will one day consume all that sets itself against him.” THAT’S KINDA SCARY!!! This passage refers to a CONTINUAL and DELIBERATE “sinning” or “missing the mark”.
ALL of us “goof “ and “miss it” from time to time… but our hearts SHOULD be SO IN LOVE with our AMAZING GOD that we DON’T WANT to do wrong!! WE hurt inside when we’ve done wrong!! However, we can “sear our consciences” and not even realize we’re walking away from the Truth! (I Timothy 4:2). THAT’S why it’s important to keep checking up on our walk with Him… searching our hearts… to know the truth about our desires and motives!!
We can begin our walk with Yeshua with passion and loving servitude… desiring to serve HIM above all else… because we love Him SO MUCH and are so THANKFUL for all He has delivered us FROM and what we can GROW INTO as Sons and Daughters of the MOST HIGH GOD!! Yet, SOON, we CAN get “calloused” and apathetic, because of the “cares of this world” – the things we CARE about in this world – entering in and choking out the Word (and Yeshua IS The Word!) … (Matthew 13:22 and Mark 4:19)
It is GOOD to take time to search our hearts and repent of our “missing the mark”... sin. Many may be closer to hitting the target and being “right on” than others… but we STILL need to make SURE we are on the right track…
An airplane that has varied ever so slightly from the correct coordinates can be MILES away from its destination over a distance and WAY OFF COURSE if not corrected!! That’s the same way WE can be if we don’t “check our coordinates” to make sure we’re still “on target” for our destination.
In MY opinion… if God says to DO something… I think it’s a VERY GOOD IDEA to DO what He SAYS to do!!! Don’t YOU? There are REASONS for EVERYTHING God has tells us to do!! We may not understand it… but THAT shouldn’t MATTER!! What SHOULD matter is that we are OBEDIENT to what He asks of us!! It’s ALWAYS for our GOOD or the GOOD of ANOTHER!! SO… if HE says to take time at this “appointed time” to reflect… to ask forgiveness… to have a time of “making things right” and searching our hearts, I think it’s a GOOD TIME to DO JUST THAT!!!
Psalm 139:23. 24 “23 Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts: 24 And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.”
I perceive a "shift" coming in the spirit realm... which eventually spills into the physical. WATCH and PRAY… ESPECIALLY PRAY for our LEADERS… both PHYSICAL AND SPIRITUAL Leaders!! I cannot explain, but I feel both an excitement and a dread when I think of the year ahead.
Be on guard, loved ones!! I think we are entering a time like we've never seen before... I believe light will become lighter and the dark will become darker!! I believe there are Believers in Yeshua who will rise up and take their position… positions that have been delegated to them before they were born… and will do MIGHTY THINGS IN and FOR The Kingdom of God!!!
