A 2013 study on Chinese women, where 30-40% of pregnancies end in abortion, concluded that a single induced abortion raises the risk of breast cancer for a woman by a shocking 44 percent.

The analysis, by a team of researchers led by Dr Yubei Huang, was published in the peer-reviewed journal Cancer Causes and Control. It looked at 36 studies that have taken place in China regarding the risk of developing breast cancer for women who have had at least one induced abortion.
