"Be Still" Vocational Discernment Retreat hosted by the Board of Ordained Ministry

The Board of Ordained Ministry is sponsoring a first-of-its-kind Discernment Retreat for those who may be sensing a call to ministry. Participants will spend time in prayer, reflection, and conversation. They will also have the opportunity to meet with a variety of people serving in a diversity of ministry roles - both lay and clergy - and learn firsthand what it means to serve in those roles. The UMC has a wealth of ways to live out a calling - this retreat offers space to explore how your unique gifts and calling might find expression within the United Methodist Church.

PRAYING FOR CLERGY & CONGREGATIONS IN TRANSITION
Today I am holding in prayer all the clergy who are preaching their final sermons, packing up homes, and preparing to step into new communities and meet new church families. I’m praying for those beginning their very first appointment, for those entering retirement, for those moving into or out of extension ministries, and for those taking a sacred pause or discerning new ways to live out their calling. I hold their families in prayer as well.

I am also praying for congregations saying goodbye to a beloved pastor and family, and preparing to welcome new pastoral leadership. In your grief, uncertainty, and hope‑filled expectations, may you find peace.

I see you. I thank God for your servant hearts. And I pray God’s strength, grace, and blessing over every step of this journey.

In your mercy and grace, God, hear our prayer. 🙏🏽✨
