Here is a little more about our speaker Sonya Reeder that will be coming in March:

Sonya loves that God allows her to be a shepherd of hearts and that she gets to bring the hope and truth of the gospel to the counseling session. In her own journey, she continues to be humbled by God's boundless love and his extravagant mercy.

Sonya grew up in East Tennessee where she attended and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree from East Tennessee State University. Sonya then moved to Texas to attend Dallas Theological Seminary (DTS), graduating with a Masters degree in Cross-Cultural Ministries. While at DTS, she met and married David Reeder. Following seminary, they moved to Colorado where Sonya completed her Master's degree in Biblical Counseling at Colorado Christian University.

Returning to Dallas, Sonya was a staff counselor in the Counseling Services Department of DTS, where she also provided small group training with the Center for Christian Leadership. In 1992 she co-founded the Center for Biblical Counseling, serving as the assistant director. Ten years later she made the move to East Texas to serve as the Director of Counseling at Heartlight Ministries, and in 2004 she opened up her private practice in Longview. Sonya has spent years working with churches and Christian universities as both a consultant and a mentor. She speaks regularly at various retreats and conferences.

Ladies' Bible Study Re-Cap of
chapter 7, "Why Obedience?"

Does the Lord delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices as much as in obeying the voice of the Lord? To obey is better than sacrifice. I Samuel 15:22

Key Principles We Discussed:
~ In a crisis, obeying God’s directives is always the safest path for us to follow.
~ A heart that does not try to compromise God’s command is a heart that is His. A heart that desires to follow the Lord and obey His command is a heart after His heart.
~ God’s delight is in our obedience to Him, not in our performance of religious activities.
~ Constantly choosing not to follow a command of God is like becoming a tool in the hand of Satan.
~ Focusing on God in a crisis gives us stability; godly actions will result.
~ No matter what words we may say, our hearts will be revealed by what we do.
