God reveals Himself to Moses in a burning bush, but it is not consumed. God promised His presence with Moses as He gives him a great and difficult task: to free His people from slavery. Moses struggles with this great burden and task and offers opposition to the Lord for what He is calling Him to do. However, Moses is without excuse because the Lord will supply all that is needed for Moses to accomplish the Lord's will with Pharaoh and Egypt.

God preserves His promised salvation in accordance with His covenant with Israel. God preserved Moses in the ark on the Nile River, and He preserves Moses in Pharaoh's household as he grows up. However, God's plan is not for Moses to remain in Egypt but to develop him as a leader and shepherd in the wilderness of Midian. Though God is not directly mentioned during Moses' years of struggle and preparation. What do we do when God appears hidden? Where is He in these times of struggle?

Despite all his efforts, Pharaoh still cannot get a handle on the Israelites' multiplication. Due to the faithful actions of several women, not only are Hebrew boys saved from the murderous intent of Pharaoh, but also God's promise of a deliverer is preserved through the midwives' fear of God over and above Pharaoh, the brave act of defiance of Moses' mother, the quick wit of Moses' sister Miriam, and the compassion of Pharaoh's daughter. Despite opposition, God is mighty to deliver his people, and no purpose of his can be thwarted.

The new Pharaoh does not remember the favor that Joseph had shown the previous Pharaoh. Now, Israel and the promised seed are under threat. Who will the Lord raise up to deliver His people?

The end of Romans is here. After 15 months, Anchor Point Two Harbors has come to a close on one of the most significant books of the Bible. Paul has finished teaching the gospel to the church in Rome and now charges them to remember the relationships they have with one another and to keep watch for false teachers who would contradict the message of the gospel Paul just labored to share with them. Keep the gospel, keep the love, and keep the guard up.
