In the gospel reading this Sunday, we hear that Peter received the "keys of the kingdom.” In our baptism it is as if we too have received keys that open God to us and open ourselves to others. Come to worship; be opened to the goodness of God that surrounds us. After worship we give thanks for the ministry of our beloved musician, Cindy Ensign.

We give thanks for the life and witness of our sister Mary Lou Johnson. This Saturday we gather at Emmanuel this Saturday, August 8th, at 11 a.m. to commend her fully into the mercy and love of God that has sustained her through her life. Eternal rest grant her, O God, and may light perpetual shine upon her.

Celebration of Life this Saturday, August 8 at Emmanuel Lutheran Church of Two Harbors, MN.
Mary Lou Johnson, age 76, of Two Harbors, Minnesota, passed away peacefully on August 3, 2026, following a courageous three-year journey with lung cancer.
Mary Lou is survived by her devoted husband of 55 years, David "Benna" Johnson; her daughters, Gina (Scott) Kleive and Patti (Paul) Johnson; her sister, Sally (Alan) Walstad; her five cherished grandchildren Kalei Kleive, Parker Kleive, Devin Kleive, Keith (Destiney) Johnson, and Kyle Johnson; and many beloved family members, and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Kathryn and Clyde Hedin, and her sister, Julie Ann Hedin.
A visitation starting at 10:00AM with the service at 11:00AM, celebrating Mary Lou's life, will be held at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Two Harbors on Saturday, August 8.
