Do we rely on our feelings or are we anchored in faith? That is what Paula Hall asked in her devotional at ‘Coffee & Jesus’ this morning. We cannot control our feelings or anybody else’s. God is constant and has an unchanging nature. He is always the same; yesterday, today, and tomorrow. When we rely on our feelings, it is like being tied to a piece of floating driftwood. You move wherever the current takes the wood. When you are anchored in faith, it is like dropping a line with the anchor to the bottom of the sea. The waves (emotions) hit the boat, but the anchor keeps the boat “grounded”. Shift your emotions from relying on feelings to anchoring in faith. How? Practice “immediate prayer” when your emotions get out of whack, practice “gratitude reset” when you will think more positive and are grateful”, and practice “guarding our thoughts” to match our feelings with the truth. February birthdays were celebrated with a “Patticake”. Glenda Jines and Janette B. Allmond share their birthdays today. Sorry Janette missed the surprise! Sybil Johnson’s birthday is also in February. We enjoyed a super devotional, had tons of laughs, and a good time! Join us when you can.
