The word estranged comes from a Latin word that meant “not belonging to the family; a stranger.” Family members can sometimes be estranged from one another due to a conflict in the past. But when they meet and are reconciled, their reunion is watered by tears of joy.

That was the situation with the two sons of Isaac—Esau and Jacob. As the older brother, Esau was in line to receive Isaac’s blessing as the firstborn. But Jacob tricked Isaac into bestowing the blessing on him instead. Esau’s grudge against Jacob caused Jacob to flee for his life to the home of a family relative in a distant land (Genesis 27:41-45). Many years later, Jacob returned to Canaan with his own family. When Esau saw his younger brother coming, he ran to him and embraced him—and they wept together.

Reconciliation and reunion don’t have to take years of estrangement to heal. Be the first to build a bridge if estrangement has taken place (Matthew 5:23-24).

Father God, guard my heart and protect my spirit from anything not sent by You. Help me walk in Your wisdom, trusting Your plan even when it’s not clear. Surround me with peace, love, and people who reflect Your goodness. Grant me wisdom to make choices that align with Your purpose. Help me discern Your will in every decision. Remind me that I can do all things through Christ. Help me be a light in the lives of others and let my actions reflect Your love, bringing hope to those around me. In Jesus Name, Amen.

Lord, help me speak life into every situation, reflecting Your grace and truth. When I'm tempted to speak out of frustration or fear, remind me of Your peace and patience. May my words uplift, encourage and bring healing to those around me. Let my speech bring hope to the hopeless, drawing others closer to Your heart. Thank You Lord. In Jesus Name I pray, amen.

May God give you glimpses of the things he has in store for you this year. May you find peace and contentment for being right in this moment of time. May you trust him with your whole heart for every answered and unanswered prayer that was whispered last year. May you lean into His whispers of promises and shouts of love.

He has such great things in store for our lives, too wonderful for us to understand if He were to tell us in this moment! I pray you search for him in the mundane, in the routines and in the choirs. I pray that you lean into the moments of uncertainty with full confidence in Who holds your tomorrows.

Don’t let your present circumstances discourage you, because where you started will not be where you finish. The good things you’ve experienced are only a small glimpse of what is to come. Get ready for your latter days. Keep moving forward; it will only get better. Though you started with little, you will finish with much.
