In this chapter, we see Proverbs 16:18 (Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall.) on full display in the life of King Nebuchadnezzar. It is easy to look at stories like this and distance ourselves from the problem, but hte truth is we all run hte risk of being overrun by our pride. Fortunately for us, a relationship with Jesus Christ is the answer to our pride problem. This Sunday (May 10th, 2026), we will look at Daniel 3. In Daniel 3, we are presented with a worship problem. Nebuchadnezzar wants everyone to worship the image he has built. Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego will not. They understand that God is worthy of worship alone. We still see this same problem in our culture today.
